Highly recommended by a friend from Campobasso, we arrived LATE for lunch, the kitchen was about to close... "If you're happy with something, we'll make it for you." Okay.
...we ate like a god! Everything was excellent, flavorful, cooked with skill and flair. It felt like being at grandma's... at my aunt's! The service was super fast and warm! In the end, no surprises with the price (we ate, and we didn't pretend to: artichoke appetizer, lentil soup, affunnatiello, pork roulade, beef steak, babbà, coffee...).
When I got the bill, I said to the kind and friendly waiter, "While I was eating, I wanted to come and hug someone in the kitchen..." Really!
This is what La Grotta di Zì Concetta meant to me: a family hug, the caress of a loving aunt.

A typical old-fashioned trattoria in Campobasso's historic center, very popular given that it was packed on a Monday. The appetizers are excellent, ranging from ricotta-stuffed zucchini flowers to cacio e ova balls, from sautéed vegetables to caciocavallo cheese melted in a terrine with pear salad. The cod with fennel cream is a bit salty, but the steak and lamb are good, the roasted rabbit is excellent, and the cream puffs are delicious. The Tintilia Scola is excellent. The price is reasonable.
