It's been a while since we've been back to Gargotta, and I think it's changed management. In any case, we ate very well. Excellent steak, excellent tartare, even fried flowers, and amazing desserts. The appetizer platter was perhaps a bit ordinary, and they could use a makeover. Excellent selection of wines and Prosecco. The terrace is perfect for summer evenings, with the background music of frogs that reminds us of the countryside. Discreet and informal service.

Trattoria La Gargotta is a superb restaurant. I went there for dinner with four friends. We ate everything, a classic Tuscan/Florentine menu: classic Tuscan appetizer, first course (tagliolini with truffle), second course (grilled rosticciana), with side dishes (sautéed spinach and baked potatoes), and coffee. Everything was VERY GOOD. From start to finish. The service was a bit awkward; they confused the bottle we ordered with a more expensive one. The owner, having already opened it for us, apologized and offered it to us at the same price as the one we ordered. Truly very kind. (Not everyone would do that these days.) The restaurant is located in the Florentine hills, just outside the city, with a splendid terrace overlooking the city, and a very beautiful and characteristic interior. I highly recommend coming for dinner.

Family dinner. We arrived early because we were leaving and suffered a lot from the heat. We asked for ice and bread several times, but were mistakenly taken to other tables. Glass of house wine served hot, undrinkable. Good Fiorentina, expensive first and second courses. 6 euros for a side of potatoes for 6 potato wedges. Stunning view from the terrace. Stunning sunset. As for the food, no, we wouldn't go back.

The restaurant is located outside Florence, far from the chaos of the city, with a panoramic view, a nice atmosphere, kind and professional staff, and the dishes, all cooked in an excellent way. Highly recommended!!!

Trattoria with a view of Florence. Found by chance on the internet and, given the reviews, we decided to have dinner here. Quiet place and excellent food. We opted for a Fiorentina and side dishes and we couldn't have made a better choice. Excellent cooking and normal price. Highly recommended.

Abbiamo cenato in questo locale con un collega proprio sopra Firenze, in collina, la vista al tramonto è qualcosa di davvero molto suggestivo.. qualità dei piatti molto buona, rapporto qualità prezzo quindi direi ottimo, buona anche la lista vini, da tornarci.

Una conferma….sono stato a dicembre per il compleanno di mio figlio e sono tornato ora per il mio e devo dire che si mangia veramente bene con un rapporto qualità prezzo veramente di categoria assoluta. Il titolare è veramente all’altezza di tutto. Complimenti a chi sta in cucina e a chi si occupa della sala. Non mancherò di tornare anche per lavoro.

10/07/2025: I had dinner at this restaurant, but only after making a reservation. Even though I was alone, I'd tried several times, but without a reservation, it was always packed. This historic restaurant has two rooms: one with the bar and a few tables, and then a second, larger and more spacious room. The place is clean, as is the small bathroom. The artwork hanging on the walls is also beautiful, with a QR code to find out the artist and price. The staff is always friendly, even when they had to tell me there was no room. They even explained why the ribollita soup, which I'd so much wanted, was missing from the menu: it simply wasn't in season for some ingredients, like cavolo nero. On the other hand, it was tomato season, and therefore the delicious pappa al pomodoro they recommended. I would have had a second course instead of dessert, but after the meat, I was full. The fillet steak was cooked perfectly, rare but not cold all over. The Florentine steak at the adjacent tables was beautiful, but it would have been too much for me on its own. I highly recommend it! It's truly one of the few trattorias that doesn't have a touristy feel. I still recommend booking.
