Nice place... the location is certainly favorable for those who want to rest after seeing the bridge.
Crusco pepper is very good in my opinion..
The appetizers also... the orecchiette were quite good.
The staff tries to put customers at ease without being intrusive.
It may not be a starred restaurant but I would happily go back because it presents itself as it is, without any pretense.

Wonderful Matera-Apulia authentic food, perfect bottle of wine 🍷 along!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We were a group of 5 people, 1 vegan, trying to escape Matera tourist trap and succeeded! Everybody was perfectly satisfied!! Very nice family! Grazie molto ✨

Our "food" was a glass of wine :) but the restaurant has a wonderful view of Sassi, so it's hard not to recommend spending a few moments there sipping wine and enjoying the view.

Posto carino nei sassi anche se non centrale,cibo buono specie i peperoni cruschi e le orecchiette alla materana anche se ben condite...prezzi nella norma,personale gentile.
Dotato di una bella terrazza vista sassi da poter utilizzare d'estate

Fantastic view especially if you sit on the upper terrace. Very spartan service. Average food except for the cod with crusci peppers which was slightly raw inside. The orecchiette and soups are good

Our first trip to Matera was in 2009, before it had been 'discovered'. Recently we returned to Ristorante I Due Sassi after 15 years for another plate of orecchiette con cime di rapa with fried breadcrumbs and crushed peperone crusco. This was the first place I ever had my favourite pasta dish and it was still as good especially with a drizzle of Cosimo's Nonna's chilli relish! Fried peperone crusco to start and my husband enjoyed his simple plate of local sausages with salad. Lemon tart to finish was good too. Cosimo was friendly and helpful as ever.

Non è facile a Matera, come spesso accade in tante altre località molto turistiche, scegliere un ristorante buono e un pò più defilato rispetto alla zona centrale della calca. Io ho trovato questo, e devo dire che mi ha soddisfatto. La cucina è ovviamente quella locale, con varie specialità principalmente a base di carne. Ho preso orecchiette con cime di rapa e peperone crusco in polvere, una paillard e un bis di torta della casa alla crema. Il locale internamente è rustico e curato. Sul menù oltre all'elenco delle pietanze, viene narrata la storia di alcuni esponenti del banditismo ottocentesco, per chi è interessato ad un approfondimento storico delle vicende del territorio. Il personale è gentile e simpatico.
