Trattoria Giovanni Verga In Catania

I ate really well, but the table service was almost nonexistent. I'll be back, hoping it was just a fluke.

A true Italian trattoria run by a genuine Italian chef with perfect food. The seafood is absolutely fresh and impeccably prepared. In some dishes, the pure flavor of fresh fish is left to shine, enhanced only minimally; in others, the chef masterfully infuses the tastes and aromas of Sicily. Everything was authentically and taste unbelievably good. Not a lot of decorations or romantic sitting outside with beautiful view - it is ABOUT FOOD. The restaurant isn’t right in the city center, so most of the guests are locals.

Some friends took us to eat at this trattoria. We had pizza, and I must say it was all very good, with a wide variety of options. The staff was professional and friendly. The atmosphere is clean, very well-maintained, and charming. The prices are in line with the excellent quality of the ingredients used. If I return to Sicily, I'll definitely return and perhaps try the other dishes as well.

A cozy terrace next to the beautiful Giovanni Verga Square, despite the traffic. You can feel the quality attitude and professionalism in the food. A more uniform taste than in the small trattorias in the small streets of the old town, but the location and the name oblige. Everything was wonderful until dessert, and even there, the only surprise was the cut in front of us after the kind service so far. Although I saw that it was alone with the increasingly full tables, this unfortunately left an unpleasant mark. However, I am glad that we got a taste of the flavors of Sicily here for the first time.

We ate a raw fish that was less than exceptional. I recommend the raw fish boat, perfect for 4 people.

You can taste the quality! While shopping in Catania, we had lunch at this place recommended to us. Everything was delicious and of excellent quality, especially the octopus salad, which was the best we've had so far. The only small flaw is the somewhat oppressive service; the main courses arriving while we were still eating our appetizers wasn't the best, and the fried fish should be eaten piping hot. The price is a bit high, but considering the quality, it's understandable.

We ate divinely for Sunday lunch, I recommend it especially to lovers of raw fish.

We went to this restaurant for dinner because we were craving seafood, and our experience only confirmed the excellent previous reviews. The service was excellent; the staff we interacted with, from the lady at the entrance to the waiters, were incredibly kind and helpful. Even with the children, who often approached the fish counter to see the live fish. The food was superb. The raw seafood was incredibly fresh! I had linguine allo scoglio, a super-large portion, with plenty of sauce but not so much as to overwhelm the pasta. My husband and the kids had linguine with sea urchins, scampi, and clams. The kids left only a little pasta because it was too much for them. For kids, if possible, I recommend a half portion or a portion for two. There was a small discount on the bill, but considering that I agree with the motto "you pay for what you get," this place is definitely worth a try!
