Established trattoria, local cuisine with big portions. Rustic and heavy type dishes. Friendly staff. Loud group was in the room making it hard to talk.

After many years, I returned to eat here: it was wonderful. Sorbir d'agnoli (for those unfamiliar with Mantuan cuisine, a small portion of agnoli, or tortellini in meat broth, served in a white porcelain bowl) WONDERFUL! Followed by pumpkin tortelli, which definitely came straight from HEAVEN. I then glimpsed the other house specialties at other customers' tables; in particular, succulent terrines filled with macaroni al torchio and stracotto. Too bad I was completely full: my stomach would have eaten several more, but I'll make up for it next time.

A quick stop for lunch; to be safe, we only called 30 minutes in advance. The staff were friendly and professional; our appetizers and entrees were very good, with generous portions. We ate in the outdoor garden, a lovely setting, with attention to detail. Regular prices. Definitely recommended. Thank you for your experience.

Ristorante in centro molto carino. Belle sale ed ampio patio. Ottimo servizio e buonissima cucina, soprattutto per i piatti della tradizione locale.

Storica tratttoria mantovana, leggermente al di fuori del centro storico. Ambiente tradizionale e menù tipicamente mantovano. Il piatto forte sono i maccheroncini al torchio con lo stracotto: abbondanti, saporiti, ricchi di condimento e perfettamente amalgamati tra pasta e stracotto. Se venite qui, sono un piatto assolutamente da non perdere. Antipasto di salumi di buona qualità, buono il bollito misto e anche i dolci. Porzioni abbondanti, prezzi nella media e personale gentile. In definitiva, uno dei miei ristoranti preferiti a Mantova.

01/10/2025: The best ravioli in the last 20 years!!! Shoulder and prunes with figs and pancetta ;) AMAZING!!! FABULOUS!!! DELICIOUS!!! Really!!! Also the green tortelloni, the fried catfish, and the stewed snails with polenta! Everything was truly GOOD!!! Welcoming place and very kind staff. Convenient parking nearby. Average prices. Best to book. We'll definitely be back! ;) WELL DONE!!!
20/09/2025: Tonight we had the (great) pleasure of dining at Ginen. We'd never been before. A genuine welcome from Barbara and her wonderful ladies, Anna and Vittoria. Appetizers included fried gnocco and gras pista. Ravioli with plums and figs, pumpkin tortelli with butter and sage, macaroni with donkey stew, and pancetta roll with plums and quinces. To finish: an excellent tiramisu and a splendid Coppa Eleonora. I've never had a better meal!!! Kudos to Chef Cristian. It's so much more than MasterChef! There's so much knowledge and love here!!! Plus, the chef even came over to say hello despite the room being full. What can I say... Over the Top!!!

Osteria da Bice la Gallina Felice

14/10/2025: I spotted Bice a year ago when I was in Mantua for a wedding, and I promised myself I'd go next time I was in the city! The chicken figurines decorating the restaurant are truly charming 🐔❤️ The dishes are quite generous and very good, the plating is thoughtful but unpretentious, appropriate for the type of place. The location is quiet, even though it's close to a main road. I found the service a bit aloof, but above all, inattentive and slow. We were the first to arrive for lunch, which was fortunate, but we still had to wait up to half an hour between courses, while customers who arrived after us waited even longer simply to order. The service organization needs revising. It's a shame about the toilets.
28/09/2025: Very good food and adequate portions, good service, they don't rush you at all, in fact you feel at ease.
