I've known this place for many years and it's never disappointed me. The food has always been excellent, and the service is simple but attentive.

A small but charming place, with excellent dishes (I had a buffalo mozzarella appetizer and two fried shrimp and calamari dishes), excellent value, and the lady serving the tables is exceptional. Highly recommended for dinner.

The place feels welcoming and friendly.
Their dishes are interesting and well-prepared!
There were some shortcomings: not mentioning when an ingredient was out and being replaced; and having some dishes delivered after many people had already finished eating. These issues have been resolved, however, and can be overlooked.
The quality-price ratio is fair.

You eat well at Al Raccontare, a fitting name because it embraces the care and meticulousness typical of an accountant when dealing with accounts, as the foundation for the preparation of dishes brought to the table. A historic restaurant in Torpignattara, they claim to have been pioneering gourmet cuisine since 1932, still managed by the same family. The location is spartan, with typical Roman tavern tablecloths.
After perusing the a la carte menu, we opted for the fish dishes, which appeared to be flavorful and well-crafted, starting with the fried anchovies, the octopus with potatoes, and the fried baby octopus.
The paccheri alla pescatora and the truffle pasta were also good, although the latter was a bit of a demanding dish.
The fried calamari and shrimp went down without a hitch, as did the dessert to conclude the meal.
The house wine, a decent, slightly tart Zagarolo Superiore, paired the courses with dignity.
Impeccable service, fair price. We'll be back.
