We braved the fog to arrive here, drawn by the menu and the rustic feel. We found what we were looking for: a true Mantuan restaurant. It's a shame we weren't hungry enough to try more dishes; we were spoiled for choice. I can recommend the donkey stew, the carp fillets, the exceptional persimmon sorbet, and the sbrisolona cake with zabaglione. If we have the chance, we'll be back.

Mantuan tradition on the table.
Da Ginen is a monument to cuisine. From agnolini to snails and sbrisolona, every dish is a tradition.
The rustic courtyard is pure poetry: dining here should be under the patronage of UNESCO.

You'll find special dishes. Traditional dishes and those that have disappeared from traditional menus. It's definitely worth a visit.

We'll definitely return to this small, family-run trattoria. We enjoyed traditional Mantuan dishes (both on the menu and off-menu). The atmosphere could use a bit of a makeover, but it's still very informal and welcoming, and the courtyard is truly charming, but unfortunately we didn't have the chance to dine outside. The prices are fair. The staff is friendly and attentive, although they did go a bit overboard at the end of the service with loud singing, literally preventing us from exchanging a few words with our guests... perhaps it was a polite invitation to leave. The only other flaw is that there are virtually no vegetarian options, and none at all for vegan options.
