This is one of my absolute favourites: genuine country style, great rural location, super friendly service, top value for money. Wanted to give 4.5 stars, but 4 is too tight, hence 5 stars.

I must have been unlucky! An evening with 12 friends. The appetizer consisted of the usual morsels (I don't think it was buffalo mozzarella or mixed) and cured meats, accompanied (never seen in my life in an appetizer) by a hard-boiled Easter egg (it's August) and peas in a small pan. Then the heifer arrived, about 3kg, nice-looking, mature, and flavorless, accompanied by 8 portions of potatoes when we had actually ordered 5. On the other hand, the bill was steep. Simple location, friendly staff.

I had dinner with friends at this restaurant and I must admit that I was impressed by the many positive reviews, but my expectations were substantially disappointed. Let's start with the appetizer, which consisted of the usual cured meats and morsels—good ones, but found everywhere—and also included a hard-boiled egg. Next, the heifer was served on lava stone, which was tough and flavorless. The aubergines and chicken were good. Finally, anyone who thinks that going out of town to a trattoria is convenient is mistaken, because the prices are normal and in line with any restaurant of the same type.

Hotel Scapolatiello

05/01/2026: Very friendly and helpful staff, entrance difficult to access by car due to a very narrow passage between the houses (but there is a large closed parking lot 150 meters away)
28/12/2025: We spent Christmas with our 5-year old in this great little hotel hidden away from the busy town centre of Cava de Tirreni. The room isn't full luxury, a little dated, but it has a lot of personalities. The views from the hotel are stuning. Staff members are super nice and very accommodating, nothing seem a bother. Located behind it is a rather big (late 1300s) cathedral - Territorial Abbey of La Trinità della Cava. This is a "must-see" if you stay at the hotel. I was blown away by the interior of the church as it didn't seem to be much from the outside. It's a lot (a LOT) bigger on the inside. There are guide tours available at price of 3€ to see more than just a main church. One thing to note is that, in case you decided to drive, it's quite a challenging journey. The road is small and windy, loads of blind corners, unless you're familiar with all the streets, or a seasoned Italian driver, I'd recommend to avoid it. There is a local bus (No. 61) that will take you from the hotel to Cava town centre. We had to organise daily taxi pick-up and drop-off from/to the hotel due to Christmas period. But was easy enough to do via WhatsApp messages. You may also want to do a day trip in Pompei while youre here. It's easy to get to by train from the Cava station. And Salerno is only 2 stops away the other direction.

Locanda San Cipriano

02/10/2025: Excellent! We've rarely eaten this well in Italy, and at very reasonable prices. We were allowed to stay overnight with our motorhome for free. Restrooms, water, and electricity are available. The tiramisu dessert... an experience.
20/09/2025: We stopped here with our camper on our way back from Sicily. A truly technical stop, just minutes from the highway, parking, and electricity. Excellent cuisine with top-quality products. Simple in the best sense of the word! Thank you!
