A hidden gem. If you get a chance,go. The food is amazing, traditional Sicilian and so tasty. The family who own it make you feel welcome and take their time to provide good food.

The horse meatballs and slices and grandma's salad were excellent and plentiful.

The place is truly a place from another era. If you're expecting lightning-fast McDonald's-style service or a fancy restaurant like a well-groomed downtown restaurant, this isn't for you. For me, Bitteri is an experience. Expect to stay there for at least two hours. The staff is friendly and very pleasant, but it's chaotic. The place is straight out of the late '80s, so expect a Casio-based piano and customers (and sometimes even the staff!?) who give their best by singing. But above all, the food is EXCELLENT. Truly a cut above your average seafood restaurant. You'll wait an hour for the appetizers, but once they arrive, it's worth it. The price is excellent, I'd even say low. But it's clear that this place isn't geared towards tourists, but rather people from the surrounding community. Customers called the waiters by name, and the staff spent time chatting with customers while sitting at the tables. I'm sure I'll recommend this place to everyone who visits Catania. And I recommend it to you, too. But please, don't be a pretentious tourist. Immerse yourself in the experience of this little slice of the Catanian and Sicilian community. I assure you, it will be worth it.
