28/07/2024: Amazing food. Perfect value for money. A very welcoming and serene climate, it really puts you in a good mood. The staff very friendly and also available for friendly chats. Breathtaking view of the greenery and play corner for children. The bathrooms are also clean and tidy. In short, a place not to be missed! I will definitely come back with friends and spread the word! :)
23/07/2024: We had the pleasure of having lunch on a Sunday at the Serra dei Gatti farmhouse. Located in the hills above Vergato, in the province of Bologna, I advise you not to use the navigator to reach it, as it could lead you on difficult roads. Better to follow the signs you will find from the center of Vergato. Once you arrive, you will find a large car park. The farmhouse, well looked after and large in size, immediately appears welcoming. The main building, expertly renovated, is a bright yellow with splendid exposed brick finishes.
The restaurant is located on the second floor and is divided into various rooms, with wooden floors and ceilings that recreate the typical environment of a farmhouse on the hills. The tables, well set, the walls are decorated with beautiful floral chandeliers made of hardened and colored paper. The staff, kind and helpful, welcomed us and placed us in a small private room with a splendid view of the surrounding hills.
As an appetizer, we ordered carne salada and fried courgette flowers stuffed with sausage and courgettes. The meat was delicious, accompanied by a mixed salad lightly dressed with oil, which added freshness to the dish. The courgette flowers, coming from their garden, were well cooked, with a crunchy breading and a tasty filling without excess oil, really recommended.
To continue, we enjoyed tagliatelle with parmesan cream and black truffle flakes. The pasta, cooked to perfection, combined with the tasty truffle, made the dish an exceptional taste experience. The other first course, the ricotta and courgette balanzoni with pepper cream and crispy ham, offered a delicious mix of flavors and textures. The green pasta with spinach was of the right thickness and the filling was rich and delicate at the same time, making the dish really tasty.
The service was fast and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Lunch was accompanied by an excellent local Sangiovese on tap and ended with a delicious lemon delight. The Serra dei Gatti farmhouse, immersed in a splendid atmosphere in the Bolognese hills, is a place where good food goes perfectly with excellent hospitality. Really recommended place.
