I went here twice, once for lunch and then again for dinner because this is one of those places worth many repeat visits. For all of you anxious to get to the punchline: fresh ingredients; yes, try the pear-filled pasta (it’s one of the most delicious things I’ve had in my life, and this comes from one well-travelled in the culinary arts); and book a table for the outside ambience. Now, if you’re still with me: the staff are genuinely excellent. If you don’t know precisely what you want to eat, come here and ask for recommendations. One of the best ways to assess a restaurant is ask for suggestions and see what happens, and Trattoria 4 Leoni proves that point. The food is some of the best I’ve had… definitely top ten of anywhere I’ve been in the world (top five even). Texture, fragrance, taste… all hit top marks. I’ve bent to ranked Michelin star restaurants that do not hold a candle to this restaurant. The pasta perfectly cooked. The sear on the meat exquisite. The cutlet crunchy even 40 (now 65) minutes after cooking. The ingredients are fresh to the point that you can taste the land and time spent in their growth. Tomatoes both slightly sweet and freshly tangy… Basil and parsley so crisp I think they must have a garden in the kitchen. Impeccable balance of flavours so that no one thing overpowers and everything is harmonious. And the “table” wine is some of the best I’ve had… I’m usually a fast eater: 10-15 minutes and we’re good. However, when a meal is worth savouring, I will spend the time to absorb every flavour and appreciate the many lives it took to bring my meal together. Each time I came here I spent over an hour enjoying and appreciating the food. I hope you choose this restaurant and enjoy the food as much as I have.
