03/06/2026: Excellent pizza dough, but the Margherita was low-quality mozzarella and too much of it, a 4.5+ rating. The mushrooms and sausage were delicious, a 7.5. The tiramisu was a 7, but considering the restaurant setting and the excellent quantity, I'd say an 8. The veal meatballs were priced high for the quantity and size, but they were good, I'd give them a 6.5.
Total restaurant, including location, a 7.
03/06/2026: I dined at Taverna Cestia and had a thoroughly positive experience. The restaurant is in a charming location, just steps from the Pyramid of Cestius, and immediately conveys the authentic atmosphere of traditional Roman trattorias.
I particularly enjoyed the cuisine, which features traditional Roman classics prepared with quality ingredients. The carbonara was creamy and flavorful, with well-balanced flavors, while the supplì were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The thin-crust Roman pizza also deserves a special mention.
The service was friendly and professional: the staff were helpful and attentive throughout the dinner, helping to create a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere. The atmosphere was also very pleasant, ideal for both a dinner with friends and a family evening.
The prices are in line with the area and the quality of the dishes offered. Overall, I consider Taverna Cestia an excellent choice for those who want to savor authentic Roman cuisine in a historic and characteristic setting. I would gladly go back to try other dishes on the menu.
