13/11/2023: A lunch of those passing through, almost in a rush which quickly transformed into a tasting experience as refined as it was unexpected. The Locanda dei Mercanti restaurant has that mix of balanced refinement and simplicity that immediately makes you feel like a welcome guest rather than a customer. The approach that the owners and managers of the service and the kitchen have given to the experience is certainly of a "family" type, in the reductive sense of the term given that the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing but in reality nothing here is ordinary, the The same environments, the particular furnishings and even the arrangement of the tables are of a refined environment that the owners, managers of the kitchen and service, manage to further enhance with their presence and conversation about ingredients and preparations. In the end all this made us delay our departure but we were able to observe that at the end of the service the kitchen and the kitchen area were, which is not always a given, cleaned from top to bottom. Ah, the whole location is clean and really well kept, including services (another thing not to be taken for granted). Returning to food, for those who are sensitive to quantities, the portions are normal and not small as sometimes happens in restaurants, especially if they are high-end ("big saint, small miracle" effect). As for the location, it is inside the town, unfortunately a little sacrificed but still characteristic on the side of one of the two churches overlooking the square. The restaurant is however well connected to the main road so it can be easily reached and the car can be left in the convenient car park in the square in front and this is important for those staying in the Locanda (there are three rooms available with the B&B formula). Prices? Medium-high, perhaps, but for an authentic fine dining experience it isn't much and this is what ultimately remains as a pleasant memory.
