The Botanical Garden of Palermo is one of the most fascinating naturalistic and cultural jewels in Italy. Founded in 1789, it covers approximately 10 hectares in the heart of the city, offering a green and peaceful refuge away from urban chaos. This botanical garden is not only a place of leisure, but also an important scientific research center, thanks to the University of Palermo.
The design of the garden combines neoclassical and baroque elements, creating an evocative environment that lends itself to long walks among exotic and rare plants. Among the main attractions, the majestic greenhouses stand out, which house a vast collection of tropical plants, and the large magnolioid ficus, a centuries-old tree of impressive dimensions, which has become one of the symbols of the garden.
The path between the avenues reveals an extraordinary biodiversity, with plants from all over the world, including cacti, palms, bamboo and numerous varieties of flowers. The garden also includes a fascinating system of pools, where aquatic species such as water lilies thrive.
The Botanical Garden is ideal for botany enthusiasts, families and anyone who wants to immerse themselves in nature. The visit is an educational and relaxing experience, which tells the story of the relationship between man and the environment. An unmissable place for those visiting Palermo.

Very nice garden for a fee (a little expensive €7 per adult). Discount for students and children. A pleasant breath of greenery while remaining close to the center of Palermo. Towards October I recommend going to the Zagara fair there will be every type of plant from the most popular to the most particular ones such as carnivorous plants and Buddha's hand lemons. There are also small artisans at the fair, highly recommended as an experience. Very large garden with many types of plants and trees, all labeled for study. Various greenhouses, an orchid greenhouse and a cactus greenhouse.

Large variety of plants. However, it seems totally abandoned by care and maintenance.

Maybe it wasn't a good idea to visit in autumn. I found it neglected.

A green oasis a stone's throw from Palermo Central Station. It can be pleasant to take a nice walk, the visit lasts at least an hour, through the avenues of this botanical garden full of history before tackling the day in the city.
