We are in one of the most beautiful squares in Italy and beyond, Piazza del Campo, or "il Campo" as the Sienese call it, is divided into nine gently sloping sections. It is the Sienese's quintessential venue for major events and is famous for the Palio di Siena, which takes place on July 2nd and August 16th, respectively. In addition to the splendid buildings that surround it, the Torre del Mangia and the splendid Fonte Gaia provide a further backdrop. You simply have to visit it.

A breathtaking sight with interesting architecture and history. A must-see when visiting Siena. Visiting in August is difficult due to the Palio horse races. A great place to see during the day, it also offers incredible excitement when visiting at night.

Too many tourists during the day, as always. It's best to visit at night or early in the morning to experience the wonderful architecture.

This is the main plaza of the marvelous hilltop town of Siena, which has narrow and stone paved narrow streets, splendidly engineered architecture, and a beautiful facade of terra cotta-colored roofs It's a big square with colorful cafes and restaurants on the ground . A fountain sits at the top of the plaza that slopes down towards a drain. I wish I spent more time walking through the surrounding streets & exploring the town further.

15/10/2025: Restaurant just outside Poggibonsi, we dined outdoors, very beautiful, very refined local cuisine, with typical dishes. Recommended.
