Sugo In Livorno

Overall, it's a nice place, but honestly, I expected better food quality. The appetizer wasn't bad, but I didn't think the pesto on the trofie was very flavorful, while the tuna tartare on top was good. The baked cheesecake was also very good and well-priced. Good service and an intimate yet quaint and welcoming location.

We were looking for a place to eat typical Livorno dishes. By chance, while we were on Via Borra, we noticed this small, homey trattoria that inspired us. We ordered the fish trio, which had a surprise: a fish, probably dogfish, that was truly delicious. The other fish in the trio were also cooked and served excellently. For first courses, we had gnocchi with zucchini and cuttlefish, which were good but not as good as the other first course, and trofie with pesto, burrata, and tuna tartare. They still filled us up and delighted us. The service was very sparse, but welcoming and suited the setting. They brought us plenty of bread, considering the €1 per person cover charge. The bill was in line with what we ate, and it's definitely worth returning a second time to try the other dishes on the small menu listed on the blackboard. Overall, we enjoyed the experience very much, even if it was a bit chaotic due to the chatter of the customers, who all seemed to be affiliated with the place.

We chose this place by chance. We'd initially opted for another restaurant, but walking by and smelling the delicious aroma of food, we decided to stop and ask for a table. The waiter immediately found us a table outside at our request, making us feel at home straight away. The dinner was excellent: innovative dishes where the flavors of the various toppings perfectly complemented each other, exquisite desserts, all strictly homemade. The choice of venue was perfect; we ate very well, and the atmosphere is certainly pleasant, friendly, and very professional.

Superb food and hospitality, without being too expensive. Very good and friendly, too.

Livorno-style cuisine made into a restaurant. Wonderful dishes and lots of fun in a very welcoming atmosphere. Highlights include the tuna with tuna sauce, the amazing cacciucco, and the Belgian pudding.

Beat meal we had in Livorno, and best dessert we had in Italy this summer. The pistacchio pesto is special!

If you have to choose only one restaurant around here to eat from choose Sugo!!! We stayed in Livorno for a month in this Venice district and found Sugo to be the most precious gem of a place. The food is fresh, unpretentious and amazing in taste. Everyone is friendly like a neighborhood vibe. A little sad when we have to say goodbye to Livorno!
