Aperitif with cutting boards, good cold cuts and fried gnocco with very little cheese (4 slices of a single quality). The staff is unprofessional and very rude.

Really very nice place where you can have an aperitif or a quiet dinner. The only problem is that the aperitif is not as one imagines, not anymore. Drink prices are reasonable, as the staff is very knowledgeable, but if you want to eat something you have to order food separately. Another discordant note: before a certain time you can only order cutting boards because the kitchen is "not ready" to make, for example, sandwiches. In the end, between drinks and platter (not exactly generous for the price) you spend what you would have spent on dinner.
Personal opinion, it's a good place to have a well-made drink or a glass of wine with friends, that's all.

I should give 1 star to myself as a customer 😂 but I arrive and ask if I can change the reservation from dinner to aperispitz and they very kindly told me that there were no problems. Very high quality cured meats in my opinion and excellent risotto with toma and barbera.

Quality cocktails and food, nice place with parking and reasonably prepared service. Advise!
It was among the best for fried dumplings. Unfortunately, it has gotten worse for some time now: the fried gnocco is increasingly smaller, dryer and very salty (like everything else, so you drink more...).
The cutting board is less quality: too much salami and mortadella.
Until last year there were at least two local wineries, now only one. Again with wine, it often happens that they reply that 'it must arrive' but then it never arrives. They have removed numerous dishes, including tempura and fried food, which were usually paired with fried dumplings. Sin!
Furthermore, there is no longer a menu distinction between aperitif/brunch and restaurant, in the sense that you can choose anything, without having booked first for 'dinner'.
A note on customer welcome: it could be improved with friendliness. Every time we find an increasingly haughty and sterile way of doing things. Let's say you don't feel like it... We felt treated like rubbish: "I only have this, if that's okay with you!" Arms open, as if to say that if we left they would be better.
(Note that the seats in the room remained empty). In my opinion, there is something wrong with the organization and the customer, due to this way of doing things, does not have a good evening.
However, there are other places that make Varese fried dumplings ad hoc, and honestly we are preferring them to the Spitz. We hope to find the same quality of food the next time we return and a more humble welcome.
