I had a wonderful, restorative stop at Scardaci Ice Caffè after a long guided tour. The location is exceptional and the atmosphere truly feels like a slice of authentic Italy. The interior features an old, characterful wall that hints at the city’s long history — a small detail that makes the place feel special and timeless.
I ordered an arancino, which was the best I’ve had so far — perfectly seasoned and delicious — and an espresso that was wonderfully aromatic. Both were excellent and felt very fresh. Scardaci is clearly a go-to spot for classic Sicilian treats.
Overall, a superb little discovery: great food, great coffee, and a genuine sense of place. Highly recommended for anyone exploring Catania.

Delicious ice cream and pastries, though not too varied. I ordered a pear cone with chocolate and ETA Volcano (almonds). They were good, although there was some ice in the cone. Good prices. The best part was the little tables and chairs on the avenue.

Very nice and centrally located place. The staff is really kind and friendly. We had a great time. The arancini are exceptional. Truly delicious. If you come to Catania, you can't miss their arancini. The Sicilian cannoli are also very good. I highly recommend it.

An underrated gelato shop on Via Etnea
Scardaci Ice Café was a wonderful discovery. It's located near the Stesicoro metro stop in Catania—convenient for those strolling along Via Etnea and looking for an authentic break.
I tried several flavors: pistachio, lemon, hazelnut, Baci, mulberry, and almond. My favorite pairing: almond with chocolate or coffee. Smooth textures, clean flavors, and real ingredients.
In addition to gelato, they also serve granita, brioche with gelato, desserts, and even savory food, all at super fair prices. There are tables both inside and outside, and the staff is incredibly friendly, even with tourists. They speak several languages and accept cards.
Perfect for a morning break with granita, or for an after-dinner dessert.
No long lines, lots of flavors, and slightly lower prices.
I have no doubt: this will be my go-to gelato shop in Catania.
