Santo Palato is a trattoria with few seats (I suggest always making a reservation!) where you can eat some traditional Roman dishes, masterfully prepared by Sarah Cicolini and her staff, and others equally well reworked. Excellent, just to mention one of the restaurant's classics, the tongue and tail terrine, presented with green sauce and home-made pickles. Good assortment of wines, all interesting and worth trying. The staff in the dining room are friendly and helpful, as well as competent.

SantoPalato and the cuisine of Sarah Cicolini and her staff are a guarantee, as confirmed by multiple visits months or years apart. Informal welcome and professional service, an à la carte menu to which the dishes of the day are added. Exceptional food that makes you full and happy, and tells a story of roots, research and love for cooking and cooking.
PS: embarrassing to read the negative reviews of those who are unable to follow very simple rules to make an online booking...

As lovers of exciting food (from street to starred), in the past we have eaten several times and with pleasure at chef Cicolini's restaurant. This evening we returned after a few years of absence and after having surprisingly read some "atypical" reviews which decreased the rating we remembered...
I am usually for freedom of thought, but I seriously wonder how one can approach a concept of fusion between levels as elementary as specific as SantoPalato's proposal and be able to comment that the paper tablecloth makes a tavern (!!! In a place which is admittedly an aesthetic homage to the Santopalato restaurant in Turin!!!).
I would like to respond in kind and specifically to more than one comment among those read... but since two hours have passed since dinner and I still happily have the endorphins from the food experience in my circulation, I will limit myself to warmly recommending that you personally test the the chef's proposal, which for us confirms itself to be among the most valid and original in the city panorama.

Having returned after years, apart from the difficulty in booking, it proves to be truly exceptional. Roman first courses, tail meatball and spectacular second courses! friendly and always helpful staff.

I stop for lunch at SantoPalato because I had read about their cacio e pepe al telo, which unfortunately I can't find on the menu. I'll have a couple of appetizers. The oxtail meatball is really good. The sautéed chicory is excessively hard and I can't finish it. The place is nice, with well-spaced tables.

Ho desiderato molto cenare in questo ristorante, viste le molte recensioni positive lette. Prenotare non è semplice, anzi direi abbastanza complicato, non c’è un numero di telefono ma solo un calendario e una mail per contattare il ristorante.
Il locale piccolo, una tipica trattoria di quartiere, con cucina “a vista” con finestra sulla sala, e noi eravamo seduti proprio sotto questa finestrella. È da lì che ho visto che l’acclamata chef proprietaria del ristorante…non era presente! Grande delusione per me, che ero venuta apposta!!!
La cucina non ha comunque deluso, con piatti della tradizione ben riproposti (carbonara perfetta, meno l’amatriciana) e alcuni guizzi di originalità non proprio riuscitissimi (indivia con nocciole e una marmellata un po’ pesante per i miei gusti)
Buono il maritozzo di grano arso, ma era caldo e con la panna che si scioglieva …non andava bene.
Insomma bene ma non benissimo. Non tornerò.
