I stop for lunch at SantoPalato because I had read about their cacio e pepe al telo, which unfortunately I can't find on the menu. I'll have a couple of appetizers. The oxtail meatball is really good. The sautéed chicory is excessively hard and I can't finish it. The place is nice, with well-spaced tables.

Santo Palato was hands down, the best meal we had in Rome. It was so good we knew by the end of our first meal there that we had to book in another before we go. The veal liver appetizer was amazing, but the butter and bread that went with it was chef’s kiss. Their classic Roman pastas like carbonara and amatriciana were also amazing, the carbonara was so creamy! Lastly, this was the first ever maritozzi we had.. and dare I say it was the best! Every other maritozzi we had in Rome could not compare. Santo Palato knows how to do food well and we had such a great time here. Waiters were also amazing :)

Very nice and informal place, two appetizers won us over (meatball with oxtail and radicchio with hazelnuts and goat cheese), average amatriciana, good beef with aubergine, friendly service.

I expected more!
The staff is very friendly, nice and kind in their menu suggestions and various dishes.
The place, very small, welcoming, not very comfortable and in my opinion "poor" in its furnishings, which should be of a trattoria, but hardly shows it.
Moving on to the food, I tried the oxtail meatball which was really very good, with just the right crunchy breading, placed on a cream with a light and fresh flavour.
The carbonara disappointed me a bit, because the cream was a little too thick (but I think it's a matter of taste), and there was plenty of black pepper on top which greatly limited the flavor of the pasta.
Last thing, the price of the dishes seems very high to me (16€ for the carbonara and 12€ for the meatball), compared to the quality.

An excellent native gastronomic experience. Contemporary Osteria style. Food and service 11/10. To repeat every time you can pass by.
What I ate is in the photos, but they do not give justice to either the service, so friendly and careful, or the flavors and textures, so authentic and sophisticated at the same time.

Bread is cold, tap water is chargeable 2euro...
Trippa alla Romana(tripe in tomato stew) was sharp in acidity which is balanced by the cheese. Overall flavour profile is pretty good, texture is good too, tender w some bite. Quite expensive tho, 12euro for an appetiser portion
Ckn liver frittata: frittata was good, well crusted smokey exterior. The ckn liver pate was plain though
Carbonara was not good. There's this edge and bitterness, as well as sourness to it. Hardly any umami, although texture of the sauce was fine. I don't really like the hardness of the pasta either, although I hear in the south that's how they do it.
Overall for 37euros without drinks it didn't impress, plus the wait is long after ordering

Fantastic salt staff, especially the curly guy with glasses whose name escapes me now. It is a true Roman cuisine, therefore tripe and fifth quarter in general. Well done
