07/01/2026: There are a large number of hiking trails that are interconnected. During the climb, we met many parents with small children (including strollers) + seniors, so the trip to this hut is really physically/time-friendly. The environment is amazing, the view of the panorama from the relaxing loungers is truly a "natural cinema".
A very beautiful place with a famous view, but it is starting to get crowded. In winter, you can't just get into the hut: either make a reservation or wait in line (we waited about 30 minutes). Our food was delicious, but the neighbors at the table ordered kaiserschmarrn and it looked very sad and unfinished. The prices are a bit excessive. We had a good feeling about the food at the chalet, but after meeting a waitress whose friend worked there, we learned that they often don't cook with fresh ingredients and dishes that don't have to be made fresh (e.g. a plate topped with bacon and cheese) and customers don't finish them, the kitchen just replenishes it and moves the same dish to the next table. Which is disgusting and incomprehensible given how popular it is. Unfortunately, the waitress no longer works at the chalet because she wasn't willing to serve such food to customers. In winter, they rent sledges at the chalet and you can take a sled down to the parking lot. I recommend booking a sledge a day in advance via their website.
03/01/2026: Today, Saturday during the New Year's holidays, sunny and very cold. The refuge was crowded, so at 1 p.m. there were 15-20 minute queues for a seat, outside, inside, or in the little "house" seating areas. Service was prompt, but the wait was endless for dishes that were honestly not special and more expensive (sometimes double) than at other mountain huts. I recommend doing this beautiful hike not on weekends. The location and the building are enchanting. They rent sleds for the descent to Zannes. Be careful on the footpath that descends to the Dussler mountain hut via Zannes: it's very icy, so crampons are recommended (and some sections are quite difficult). The path that passes by the Glatsch mountain hut and then returns to the Zannes parking lot is passable even without crampons. Long live the Odle and the Funes Valley.
