San Maurilio In Milano

An absolute must if you go to Milan. Inside, it’s a cozy, old-world Italian dream. The chef takes your order at the table, jokes around, pours himself a glass of wine (jokingly), and heads back to the kitchen. Occasionally, he answers the door to other hopeful diners, hoping to get a table. He is a one man band and food is made to order, so enjoy the company and the experience. The food was incredible, with lasagna that might just ruin all other lasagna for me. But the experience? Completely unmatched. It felt like stepping into a movie—an eccentric, charming Italian film starring the chef as a real-life version of Remy from Ratatouille. If you can find the back alley restaurant, near the Duomo, and get a seat at a table, don’t pass it up! We can’t wait to go again to what we lovingly call the “Knock, knock restaurant“.

Beautiful chef, The pasta is ok, the price is high compare to others

Absolutely fantastic food. Real genuine atmosphere and service. The only restaurant still in Italy where you need to knock on the door to get in!

First of all I would like to thank the chef for the advice on his Mediterranean cuisine. My husband and I tasted his bruschetta. Excellent then super good carbonara, sweet homemade tiramisu, we will definitely be back.
