I tried this pizzeria both at the urging of many friends and acquaintances, but also because I'd been curious to try their dishes for some time, and I must say I was completely satisfied, not only with the high-quality ingredients used, but also with the wide selection of pizzas and side dishes on the menu.
In fact, as I always do when I order from a new restaurant, I've tried, more or less, almost every one of the delicacies on their richly varied menu: the sandwiches, made with pizza dough, are phenomenal, the fried foods are excellent (the scagliozzi, which I hadn't eaten in years, and the fries were delicious, but even the fried sausages, never tasted or seen anywhere else in Manfredonia, were truly exceptional! And, in all cases, always generous portions!), the panzerotti are light (no small feat, mind you) and tasty, the pizza alla vampa (a cross between focaccia and pizza al piatto) was a very unique and interesting discovery, and last but not least, the pizza al piatto are incredibly light and flavorful, because they're made in what I call "Roman-style," meaning thin centers with low, crispy edges.
It's no accident, but this is precisely my favorite type of pizza dough and, in my opinion, the one best suited for takeout and home delivery. Unlike the Manfredonian and original Neapolitan styles, which are mostly perfect when eaten on-site, Roman-style and Roman-style pizzas don't spoil and always stay good and easily eaten, even if they get cold (which, however, didn't happen at the "San Francesco" pizzeria, as the delivery driver delivered everything while it was still hot).
Therefore, I offer my sincerest compliments to the owners (keep up the good work) and absolutely recommend this pizzeria (also for the truly reasonable prices, especially considering the high quality offered).
I will definitely be back!
