Salotto 42 truly makes some of the best cocktails we’ve had for aperitivo in Rome. My personal favorite was the Lady Bramble—perfectly balanced and beautifully crafted. The small aperitivo snacks that accompanied the drinks were also a lovely touch, and the atmosphere of sitting outdoors on a Roman street with an ancient structure as the backdrop made the setting feel undeniably special. That said, the service was a bit uneven. With the exception of one young woman with long blonde hair who was warm and attentive, the overall attitude felt as though seating us outside was a favor rather than standard hospitality. We don’t expect over-the-top treatment, but even a neutral, welcoming approach goes a long way—especially for a place of this caliber. It’s also important to know that reservations are essential. Without one, you’ll likely be turned away even if several tables appear open. Service concerns aside, the cocktail craftsmanship here is undeniably excellent, and the ambiance is hard to beat. Would we return? Yes. Do we now know exactly what to expect? Also yes.

A new favorite gem in the heart of Rome. Specialty cocktails with quality ingredients and a bar. Excellent service, from the call to make a reservation, to the welcome, to leaving. Incredible location, with a very chic yet elegant atmosphere. Excellent charcuterie and cheese platter! Fresh ingredients. A very positive experience.

this place is a great place for a bit elevated basic cocktails. they put some twists on them that make them stand out! the place is a bit small and if you reserve space it’s 15% higher prices. the prices were reasonable, however some were too high in my opinion (18€). all in all, would recommend a visit☺️

I happened to stop by during a rainy day while traveling in Rome, and I was truly satisfied. The exterior was beautiful, the atmosphere was comfortable, and it was a great place to stay. The menu was varied, from food to cocktails and cafe options, so there were plenty of options. The service was friendly, and the drinks were delicious, making it the perfect place to take a break. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy cafe or bar in Rome!
