Last night we were looking for a good place to eat, and mindful of RB's reputation, which I've known for 10 years, I went to see if there was room. Since the outdoor area isn't particularly well-maintained, despite there being a designated parking lot, I decided to go in and was seated. The atmosphere is welcoming, reeking of a grill restaurant, but with a touch of elegance that doesn't hurt. Alone at the table for almost an hour, I would have appreciated some water, but we'll pass. There was only one waiter, who was wandering around the tables like a spinning top. My companions for the evening arrived and we began to order. There wasn't a huge wine selection, considering it's a grill restaurant, but we settled on a Morellino di Scansano, which arrived decidedly too chilled. The dishes were all excellent, but I'm giving the food four stars because, aside from the cold wine, the pulled pork was served on a bed of raw beans for show. Even though I moved them to a plate to divide them in half, my husband had a dark bean stuck to the bottom of his bite and nearly broke his tooth. Nothing inedible should NEVER be on a plate. I don't think they're washed, and I don't think they're thrown away after every service, so this mystery will remain unsolved. When we pointed this out to the waiter, he even told us that some customers had even tried to eat them, not realizing they were there "for show."
The meats were exquisite, it's a shame they're not promoted as the star of the show. When we asked for recommendations, the suggestions we received were heifer and entrecote, which, with all due respect, are easily available for a barbecue at home. The only server, as I mentioned, seemed rushed and not very inclined to engage in conversation. For sides, we ordered chips and broccoli rabe. While the broccoli rabe were good, the fries were completely flavorless, except for a bitter aftertaste (just look at the photos for the color difference between the diced ones and the ones that came with the sandwich). I wouldn't eat them again. The desserts were exquisite, all homemade. The ambitious plating matched the flavor. All passed. We finished with three coffees and a grappa. The bill was fairly in line with expectations, but for €400 in less than two hours, I'd pay attention to a few details that, I repeat, could have been made up for with little. Maybe it's because I've experienced every stage of Royal Beef's growth, because when I arrived in this new home, I was pregnant and needed a place I loved. Ten years ago, Royal Beef, with its frugality and wonderful sandwiches, was a must-visit. Next time, if we had to choose, we'll probably stop by.

A feast for the eyes and, above all, for the palate. The meat is top-quality, starting with the meatballs in the fries, tasty and generous. Moving on to the sandwiches, generous fillings and a wide variety of meats and sides. The meat is a true delight. As promised, we didn't leave disappointed!
