I love this place. I've been there several times, though I've personally been there less recently for other reasons. But I think it's beautiful and unique. 💪

Today, after walking along the Chia waterfall and tower trail, we stopped for lunch at Rottezzia while strolling through the center of Soriano nel Cimino. The restaurant is beautiful, completely carved out of the tuff. One of the owners showed us around the restaurant. There's even a tunnel that descends 35 meters underground, once used as a cellar and later as a shelter during the war. Very impressive. We ate wonderfully. The tonnarelli cacio e pepe with guanciale and broad beans were out of this world. The wine was also excellent. The two guys who run the restaurant are very kind and professional. It was a wonderful experience. Thank you.

Exceeded my already high expectations. Everything was excellent, from the welcome to the quality and exquisitely cooked food. Definitely "nice people." I'll be back soon!!!!

One of the must visit restaurants of Soriano nel Cimino. We had three course meal with wife and there was nothing to complain. Waiter also spoke really good english. Also decor inside wont go much better. Lamb skivers for starters were fantastic. I recommend

Nice restaurant with seating in caves - food was okay but my wife is a celiac and gluten free food was offered but when it came to delivery only the desert was gluten free. Plus they charge extra which is not an issue if this is delivered.

The tables are in a kind of cave so the atmosphere was very good! The service was ordinary, our server when passing our table ignored us each time! The pasta was very correct, the mixed salad very good but no vinegar. The tiramisu was ok

This is a must dinner location while in Soriano. The cave setting is unreal. Get the sampler appetizer. It’s perfect with wine. I had the fillet. Best steak I’ve had to months. My wife had the lamb which was also very good. So glad we chose this restaurant.

17/08/2025: Very good food, homemade potato gnocchi topped with excellent ragù, generous portions, truly tender and flavorful steak, exquisite zuppa inglese. The staff is overwhelming, considering the number of seats, but they always try to please their customers. Low prices. Everything was perfect. A pleasant discovery. The only downside was that when it came to paying, I found myself €6-7 more than expected. When I pointed this out, they told me the paper menus at the table were incorrect. Now, since the prices are really reasonable, that's fine, especially since I would have left that money as a tip, but please update the menus! Otherwise, everything was perfect.
09/08/2025: I frequent this place several times a year. I'm very satisfied, at least with the food I order.

10/02/2025: Dopo aver prenotato per le 20 e pure confermato nel pomeriggio, ci siamo presentati alle 19:15 ma siamo stati accolti con la massima disponibilità e cortesia. Il locale è veramente pittoresco, letteralmente, essendo costellato di quadri e scritte anche goliardiche, mai volgari. Menù sulla base delle disponibilità del momento. Dopo bruschetta di accoglienza, abbiamo assaporato le fettuccine della casa alla viterbese, squisite. Essendo quasi sazi, due contorni di stagione, ottimi. Frappè per dessert. Vini al calice, su nostra richiesta. Prezzo a dir poco onestissimo, 40 euro in due con ricevuta fiscale prima che potessimo richiederla, anche questo in controtendenza con i recenti suggerimenti governativi. Consiglio vivamente, salvo a patiti di ambienti austeri o di tendenza, ossia di tutta apparenza e poca sostanza: qui siamo all'esatto contrario.
28/11/2024: Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di capitarci nel giorno di chiusura dove il titolare ospita i suoi amici e se ti va bene mangiare quel che c’è sei il benvenuto. Preparati: uscirai che conoscerai tutti! Location da sogno, sembra di entrare in un’opera d’arte, cibo buono e casereccio a un prezzo stracciato
