We went to Trattoria della Gioia during a short stay in Modena: I can only confirm the many positive reviews.
The place is simple but nice and clean.
The dishes are truly excellent, cooked simply and easily digestible (which is not always a given when it comes to ethnic cuisine).
My husband and I are vegetarians but we still found a wide choice, also recommended by the owner who is a really kind person.
I recommend it to everyone!

A real experience! I asked if they had anything vegan and they sat me and my friend down and took us on a journey through the flavors offered by the owner!
We ate falafel, hummus, couscous, aubergines, artichokes and finally even a mint tea and some dates offered!
The two of us spent a total of 33 euros and ate really well and a lot!
Furthermore, the dishes offered had rather delicate flavours, therefore also suitable for those who do not particularly like spices or spiciness!
When I return to Modena I know where to eat

A lovely cosy ethnic restaurant smack in the centre of Modena, in the art district, for a quick bite or a nice dinner with friends. And very very reasonably priced too, which is becoming so rare. Recommended!

This is not an ordinary restaurant; it’s a place where you can enjoy delicious food in a unique atmosphere with a friendly hosting. Falafels!! Amazing! Everything tastes wonderful.

Moroccan rotisserie in the center of Modena. At the counter you can choose how to compose your main course, guided by the advice of the kind owners. I wanted to try rice with meat and almonds, stuffed aubergine, chicken curry with rice and beef tajine with plums. On the side I ordered two falafel and a fried cauliflower. All very good, in particular I appreciated the beef tajine and the stuffed aubergine. They offered me a plate with hummus, yogurt sauce, harissa and olives, a delicious mint tea and dates (both dried and fresh). With a 0.66l Moretti I spent €17, good value for money.
