A refuge in a stunning location, a quaint, warm, and welcoming place, and more than delicious food. The menu is raved about by the very friendly staff, but they always forget to display the prices... crafty, considering the place isn't exactly cheap! We waited almost an hour for a plate of carpaccio that was supposedly ready, but the entrees arrived immediately... kitchen mysteries! I'd happily return, though.

Everything was good, the prices were those of a restaurant, not a mountain hut (and I'm used to the prices in Milan and the surrounding area), but a mixed cold cuts/cheese platter for 3 people at €33 seems excessive to me.

A 60-year-old revival hike. The accommodations are fully geared toward tourism. The refuge/restaurant, accessible by crossing the dam, is located in a spectacular setting, surrounded by greenery and offering a breathtaking view of the turquoise Cancano reservoir. The restaurant is excellent, with traditional, tasty, and plentiful dishes. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The wait is minimal despite the crowds. Ample parking. Tables inside in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and plenty outside, ideal for the warmer months. Next door, the small church of Sant'Erasmo, dedicated to the victims of dam and tunnel construction, was the only building on the site when I first visited with my future father-in-law, a co-designer of the power lines for AEM (now A2A), which built the dam.

Very nice location, overlooking the reservoir. However, the service was very slow. We wanted a large cheese platter, as we're vegetarians, but we ended up with four small pieces of cheese and very dry bread, for which we paid €16. Unfortunately, the prices aren't listed anywhere.

Despite having booked a table in advance and having three small children with us, we had to wait over two hours for service. It was frustrating, despite repeated complaints. Apparently, they're seating more people than they can handle.
To be fair, the food was good, the prices were in line with the rest, and the waitresses were friendly. They could have given us a discount to make up for the unforgivable wait.
A truly beautiful place, in an excellent location for cycling around the lake.

What a wonderful discovery, Rifugio Ristoro Solena! On July 23, 2025, we were there for lunch with the whole family, a group of eight adults, two children, and our two dogs. The atmosphere was perfect for such a diverse group. We started with an exquisite cheese and cured meat platter. But the highlight that absolutely won us over was the venison steak with fresh chanterelles—truly superb. A place we'll keep in mind for future trips, especially since they're dog-friendly, which isn't always a given!
The location is convenient, accessible by car, and offers a view of the turquoise Cancano lakes.
The staff was kind and helpful.
The atmosphere was super welcoming, with a beautiful soundtrack in the background!!!
