For more than three years in a row now, I have been spending my summer holidays at the Hotel Universo, located in the beautiful area of ​​the Alimini Lakes, rich in pine forests and Mediterranean scrub. In this place I found the ideal combination of the beauty of the sea, excellent cuisine and comfortable living. The sea: it is really just a few steps from the rooms (30 meters or 50 meters depending on the accommodation) and is extraordinarily clear. Furthermore, with a short walk along the shoreline (about 500 metres) you can easily reach Baia dei Turchi, one of the most beautiful beaches in Salento. The cuisine: the skill of the chefs is combined with the quality of the raw materials, allowing us to savor truly good dishes, simple but (perhaps for this very reason) full of flavour. Worth trying are the spaghetti from the Adriatic, the Universo risotto, the spaghetti with crab and the second courses where fish reigns supreme. The hotel restaurant is also open to external customers; for those (like me) who benefit from half board, the choice between three first courses and three second courses is available, but variations are also offered every day. With a very small difference in price you can still order any other dishes on the menu. The living room: the rooms are simple but well looked after and clean, equipped with everything you need. The best (as the name suggests) are the Comfort ones but the others also allow for an excellent stay. Internal parking for the car is available; the beautiful Otranto is just a few minutes away, as is Torre dell'Orso. To top it all off, there is the kindness and availability of Luca, the owner, and all the staff. Ultimately a place to recommend to those who love simple but quality things.

My family and I spent a week in this property with half board. The perfect place to find relaxation, excellent food and a very welcoming, friendly staff ready to satisfy any requests. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Enchanting place, equipped beach just a few steps away, optimal position for any excursions. Good quality/price ratio. Highly recommended.

The delicious fried food, Orecchiette alla Salento which I recommend to everyone, but the spaghetti all'Adriatico with a pinch of oregano will never be forgotten. Excellent service and welcome

I was a guest of the hotel with my family and I must say that it is a shame to only have to give 5 stars. The structure is located in a strategic position as having private parking inside the pine forest there is no need to travel for km. queue to come to the sea and in the evening you can easily arrive in 10 minutes in Otranto and 10 minutes in Torre dell'Orso, the hotel offers everything you could wish for to spend a perfect stress-free holiday. Let's start from the distance from the beach (50 m), the cuisine is very good with a fixed and à la carte menu but every day there is always an off-menu choice. The dishes are prepared with care, the quantities are good and you can see and feel that they use excellent quality raw materials, The rooms are new and large, equipped with all comforts, a nice large shower, air conditioning, TV, cleanliness and excellent. The owners are very kind and helpful They make you feel like one of the family, the waiters are very attentive to handling every request. The sea is spectacular, the Universo lido (not managed by the hotel and really well equipped). What can I say, the photos speak for themselves, it's a shame to only have to give 5 stars

Luca, his entire family and the very kind staff, ready to satisfy every need, sea 20 steps from the rooms, simple, but furnished with taste. SPLENDID sea to say the least and all 5 km from Otranto. The hotel is located directly on the beach, and what a beach!!! The sea is simply fantastic. Nothing is missing in the hotel, the room is spacious (I had opted for a Classic quadruple room for two adults and two children) and well furnished. The restaurant is divine, the menu is à la carte even with half board. Excellent room cleaning service. I thank the owner Luca who is always available to satisfy our every request and all the staff who make you feel at home. A special thanks to Tommaso who is always there: to solve a problem, for advice on how to get around the area, to know what to visit (thanks for advising us to take the Otranto-Leuca coastal road, it's fantastic).
