Found by chance years ago, it was the obvious choice for a relaxing holiday right by the sea on one of Salento's beautiful beaches. Simple but comfortable rooms, attentive and friendly service, and a top-notch restaurant.

Io e la mia famiglia siamo stati in vacanza per 15 gg, abbiamo soggiornato all’hotel universo, e tutti i giorni siamo stati deliziati della saporitissima cucina del ristorante Universo. Cibo di prima qualità, cortesia, gentilezza, tutto ciò che si può desiderare da una vacanza. Lo staff è sempre disponibile e cordiale, Tommaso è il non plus ultra in sala, ma soprattutto Luca, il proprietario, mette a proprio agio la clientela e ti fa sentire a casa. Ci ritorneremo di sicuro

An exceptional experience. The location is unique, surrounded by nature, and you can even book a room and park just 15-20 meters from the beach entrance. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped. The restaurant is also of excellent quality and is worth trying even outside of your vacation. Congratulations!

The three of us spent a week at the Hotel Universo in a comfort room with half board. The rooms are newly renovated and attractively furnished. Everything was very clean upon arrival and was cleaned every day by the very friendly cleaning lady. The hotel is very quiet. Breakfast is a bit small. It's a typical Italian breakfast with cakes and cornetti, juice, some fruit, hot drinks, and sweet juice. Sausage/cheese and bread are available upon request. It would be nice if you could help yourself to breakfast. Here, it's only possible with waiter service. Dinner was outstanding. There's only a small menu with three starters and a few main courses. You can then choose between a side dish and dessert. But there's an additional choice every day. The portions are consistently generous and sufficient. Our daughter is a vegetarian. The chef made every effort to always prepare something delicious vegetarian for her. At her request, he even made a vegetarian parmiggiana al forno. Every dish we tried was outstandingly good. I loved the insalata di mare and ate it almost every day. Drinks with meals were exclusive, but reasonably priced. We would especially like to emphasize the friendliness of all the staff. We were warmly greeted every morning and served very well. There is parking directly on site. The sea is a minute away, but there is no sea view. Umbrellas and loungers can be rented at the adjacent lidos. It's not immediately obvious that this is a hotel. It's all on one level. That's why we called it the beach room. We have one small suggestion for improvement: the shower head needs to be replaced with a new, working one. A rain shower would be great. The door to the beach rooms squeaks quite a bit, which you can hear in the room early in the morning – oiling it would be great. The entrance area from the parking lot should also be cleaned; it simply makes a better impression. But that was just nitpicking. We can wholeheartedly recommend the hotel and will definitely return.

Simply top-notch. The food and service are excellent. The rooms are simple and clean. The location to the beach is unique, as it's right next door. I highly recommend it if you're on a beach holiday and want to leave the car behind.

The perfect place for a true vacation: a stunning location, an excellent restaurant, spacious, welcoming, and clean rooms, and a warm welcome. Thank you again this year for a wonderful vacation!

We stayed for two nights at both the hotel and the restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The hotel has a direct beachfront location, which is very good. Early check-in was possible without any problems. Unfortunately, a cockroach greeted us in the bathroom of our room. That wasn't so nice. Otherwise, everything was clean, and we felt comfortable. Beach chairs are subject to a fee. One suggestion for improvement would be to allow hotel guests to use the beach chairs free of charge. The beach and the sea are beautiful, and there's also an area where you can lounge with your own umbrella. Breakfast in the restaurant was okay, but not a highlight. It was particularly odd that employees were distributing the food at the buffet. In our opinion, this is very strange and creates a rather negative impression, given the way it's conducted. The breakfast is also minimal, with little selection. Dinner in the restaurant was good. However, English doesn't get you very far. Unfortunately, we were often misunderstood. Overall, we would recommend the hotel for a short stay because of its excellent beach location.

Io e la mia famiglia siamo di ritorno da una bellissima vacanza in Salento arricchita da una indimenticabile serata presso il Ristorante Universo! Tappa immancabile se state dalle parti dei laghi Alimini, Otranto! Un ambiente familiare accompagnato dalla professionalità dei camerieri, in particolare di Tommaso ed Irene, pronti a venire incontro alle nostre richieste in maniera puntuale e veloce e ad un padrone di casa, Luca, presente e molto disponibile. Ottimi i primi, risotto all'Universo e spaghetti all'Adriatico e, a seguire, sautè di cozze incredibile ed insalata di mare freschissima! A chiudere sorbetto e una fetta di sbriciolata alla cioccolata, rigorosamente fatta in casa! Che dire...provare per credere. Noi abbiamo provato e sicuramente torneremo!
