I think it's one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. I go there every time I return to Ischia.

Fabulous setting and great food giving a modern slant on classics. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, we opted for one of the fish based menus, each dish was excellent and elegantly presented, the risotto was gorgeous! Of course you pay considerably more than the norm for this innovative and delicate cooking with great views but it was worth it for a special treat!

Bad service. Great food. The seafood was excellent, all the flavours were well balanced and the fish was cooked to perfection. We also got a good wine recommendation. For the service: we waited 45 minutes after we arrived for the bread to come to our table. We watched as other tables who arrived after us and even after we had ordered got theirs veggie us. It is quite large and hard to miss. When it arrived we asked about the delay and were told that they thought we wanted an apero first... Which is strange because we had already ordered. Unable to explain they apologised verbally, but there was no free dessert, coffee or digestive offered, and we had to pay the full coperto, being told that it was a government tax, but apparently only 22% of the coperto goes to the government. Finally... Some of the servers continually reached across us to collect either cutlery or glasses from the opposite side of the table to where they were standing interrupting our conversation. Others moved around the table so they need to improve their staff training.

Location worthy of attention, with particular reference to the terrace overlooking the sea, very fast and efficient service, the dishes are refined and well presented, the starters and main courses are excellent, in particular, the boneless fish tempura, the desserts are delicious. The wine list is excellent. On the economic aspect there is a good balance between quality and price. Lastly, for a restaurant in the Michelin guide, the balance of flavors of the first courses should be reviewed and greater attention should be paid to the reception of guests, which certainly deserves a star. Overall definitely worth returning.

Umberto a Mare is a special and unique place. It is set in the cliff below the Church of Soccorso in Forio facing Scogli degli Innamorati (the view is breathtaking especially at sunset). You wake up and fall asleep with the sound of the sea!!! The breakfast is excellent both in quantity and quality and above all in the kindness of the staff (fresh fruit, homemade cakes, croissants, juices, even savory breakfasts). The staff is very kind, helpful and always cheerful, managing to create a very familiar environment. The location of the structure allows you to reach both the center of Forio and the nearby beaches on foot. If you prefer, there is private access to the sea equipped with sunbeds, bar service, canoes and mattresses. The restaurant is refined, intimate and with a very enjoyable menu of dishes (I recommend the caprese for dessert). An unforgettable week in Ischia!

Excellent restaurant, excellent food but for a restaurant of this scale, I absolutely did not expect to find customers from such a low social class. Men with short trousers, women with tops, low-cut tops, braids (clearly just done on the beach). Another point against the waiter who unfortunately did not take into account the male component at my table, even the paying force. The bill is a little steep for a Neapolitan like me.

Purtroppo le cose cambiano! E chissà perché mai in meglio! Forse è cambiato lo chef, forse era semplicemente una serata “No” … ma era la mia serata! Dunque il servizio è stato scadente di livello “trattoria” : in una tavola senza “tovagliame” pulire sarebbe molto facile invece in una situazione di palese sporco di olio per una portata precedente vengono poggiate posate pulite per la portata successiva (bastava sostitute il posa-posate microscopico e bianco che è sul tavolo!) inoltre tutto il servizio lentissimo. Il cibo, benché le materie prime fossero fresche, è preparato senz’anima, decisamente insapore se non consideriamo il cibo stesso come se fosse bollito e servito, decisamente slegata con il condimento piuttosto basilare. La carta nel complesso ha pochissime variazioni rispetto allo scorso anno e, comunque, poca scelta.
