I decided to have lunch here at the last minute on a Friday after being unable to find a table several times over the weekend. The reason is very clear. You enter a place that feels like a 70s/80s time capsule and is welcoming. The service is friendly but not intrusive, attentive and fast. The food is excellent. The cod is creamed just right, the roast pigeon is incredibly tender, the cardoons are excellent, the fried custard cubes just like my grandmother used to make, all in generous portions. Even my mother, who is a great cook and therefore difficult to please, had a wonderful time.

On the recommendation of locals, I tried Manueli. The location is authentic, with friendly staff attentive to every request. Their cappelletti in brodo will forever remain etched in my memory. The best I've ever had. The flavorful broth, not excessively skimmed, contained a generous portion of homemade cappelletti, very balanced, filled with cheese (ready to melt thanks to the hot broth) and nutmeg. A warm and delicious treat. The ones with ragù, however, were less convincing. I found the latter too strong for my taste. I also tried the bruschetta with pancetta and squacquerone. Delicious and very filling. The fried pizza was also well-made. The zuppa inglese, which concluded the dinner, was also top-notch. It introduced me to a selection of typical dishes from a region where good food is the protagonist, and Manueli, with the tradition that permeates the house, manages to direct it to perfection.
