The food is excellent, especially the cacio e pepe, which is served in a cheese basket. However, to receive good service, reservations are necessary. I didn't make a reservation, I arrived early, and initially received a rude refusal for being there without one. They accepted that I wait for availability and soon offered me a table. The service leaves much to be desired.

Characterful restaurant near the Church of Santa Cecilia. Typical dishes include tagliolini cacio e pepe served in a cheese basket and delicately flavored ravioli.

I had lunch with my family on Sunday, February 15th. We were served by the young man in the dining room! The cacio e pepe and fritto misto were excellent... we'll be back!

If you're in Trastevere, this is a lovely place to stop. Especially on a sunny day, the outdoor tables are quite popular.

20/10/2025: A corner of paradise in the center of Rome, a pleasant atmosphere, excellent quality products, and the prices are commensurate with the location. We'll definitely be returning.
19/10/2025: This isn't our first time at Matermatuta. The menu is always splendid: top-quality fish, with always original and absolutely delicious variations. Probably the best seafood restaurant in central Rome. The service is also remarkable: punctual, friendly, and helpful. Always a divine experience at Matermatuta.
