Ristorante PRIMI PIATTI In Palermo

Our first lunch in Palermo. Following the name of the restaurant i ate a very tasty pasta with sarde. Very good. Staff extremely nice.

Lovely hidden little place, the decoration was very medieval and very nice. We ordered a Sicilian starter mix plate, a pasta dish and grilled prawns. The starter was quite nice, the pasta was good although it was not al dente. For an authentic Italian restaurant, pasta should be al dente so this was not very satisfying. Then the grilled prawns were burnt and in some prawns there was clearly a taste of burnt.

I had high hopes for the restaurant, and tucked down a tiny side street with a handful of tables outside it felt really authentic. The bare walls inside were equally as appealing and the place had a real charm about it. It was very quiet on the evening I visited and the service was alright, with the serving of each portion not being rushed, which was nice. I liked that they offer carafes of wine at incredible prices, and indeed all the food on the extensive menu is great value. The taste however wasn’t quite as impressive - the spaghetti pasta didn’t taste the freshest and the veal was a bit lacking in flavour. Portion sizes were good though and presentation was traditional. For a no-fuss traditional meal which didn’t feel like a tourist trap it was good, but not being blown away with the food means I won’t be rushing back.

We had an excellent lunch. Highly recommended! We spent 15€ pp.

A small restaurant serving simple and delicious Sicilian cuisine. Highly recommended for pasta lovers! We went in December; the interior was all decorated for Christmas.

Simple, efficient, good value for money, quiet and pleasant location.

We spent both the first and last days of our visit to Sicily in Palermo, and on both occasions we had lunch at Primi Piatti. We enjoyed the food, the friendly service and the surroundings. In fact, it was particularly amusing that our first contact with the owner of the restaurant was seeing her washing some of those surroundings - a niche with a plant down the street from the restaurant - on the grounds that keeping the area clean contributed to the pleasure of being there. And, about the surroundings, it was lovely to be in a quiet, side street, in almost startling contrast to the bustle of one of Palermo's busiest tourist thoroughfares just metres away. All that with good food at reasonable prices made us happy to make a second visit to the restaurant.

The food was good but nothing special; the dishes weren't generous enough. The carbonara lacked meat. The tiramisu was more like a Nopolitan. The price was very reasonable.
