I found this restaurant by chance and it was a wonderful surprise. All the dishes are traditional local dishes, and in some cases, they've been beautifully reinterpreted by chef Silvana. For those like me who love the flavors and aromas of Italian cuisine, this is an absolute must-visit. A special mention also goes to Mimmo, who is incredibly kind and helpful.

We came as a group of 14 adults and one child, and we left satisfied. The food was delicious, the atmosphere welcoming, and the value for money was truly excellent. Free private parking was available at the restaurant. Simply perfect service. Highly recommended.

We discovered this truly exemplary restaurant by chance. The staff are incredibly friendly, the atmosphere is family-friendly, and the local cuisine is superb, balanced, and delicious. Essere accolti da amici in un ambiente informale ma professionale non ha prezzo. Piatti tipici della tradizione Lucana rielaborati in modo sapiente dallo chef. Porzioni abbondanti ma curate fin nei minimi dettagli. Condimenti naturali ed assenza di addensanti, basta la maestria di chi cucina per creare le giuste combinazioni tra sapore, densità, consistenza e visibilità della portata. Siamo capitati per caso in questo locale dopo aver letto qualche recensione ma sicuramente sarà il nostro punto di riferimento a Monticchio,ci ritorneremo con piacere e con la certezza di essere accolti come in famiglia. In cerca di refrigerio dalla calura estiva (insopportabile in città) abbiamo visitato dei posti incantevoli: oltre la bellezza dei laghi abbiamo avuto modo di visitare il monastero di San Michele; posto incantevole che domina i laghi sottostanti in cui si specchia. P.S. Rapporto qualità prezzo eccellente!

27/01/2026: Lunch for two on a typical Friday, so not many other customers. First time here, recommended by a friend. Excellent food, all locally sourced, so great quality and generous portions. The owner was very friendly. The atmosphere was lovely, with a roaring fireplace. A truly excellent lunch. The price was €35 per person for the full menu, which was reasonable for what we ate. It's definitely much busier on weekends. San Costantino Albanese is a little gem in Basilicata. I highly recommend visiting and having lunch here.

HOTEL PIERFAONE

07/03/2026: We're not used to writing reviews, but we couldn't help but share our experience at Pierfaone, and we hope these lines can help those who, like us, are looking for true professionals to rely on for the success of their event, leaving nothing to chance. MANAGEMENT OF REQUESTS: From the very beginning, we were told to think of this event as something to be adapted to our needs, without being influenced by the "standard" models we'd seen in other contexts. Our wedding was held on December 30th, and for this day, we wanted a winter day, reminiscent of a mountain cabin and allowing our guests to enjoy a welcoming and evocative atmosphere. To create the atmosphere we requested, we worked together, in addition to all the other details, to define a "winter" corner consisting of a relaxation area with a fire pit and a hot drinks corner. PLANNING: Since we live outside the region, the organization had to be conducted almost entirely remotely (only three in-person meetings were enough to finalize the details of our event). From the very first visit, Donato and the entire staff proved to be extremely kind, welcoming, and above all, extremely professional and attentive to every request. The work they did not only involved organizing the meal itself, but also coordinating the arrangements to ensure that the florist, band, and photographer (some of whom were from outside the region) all received the same instructions and respected the timeframe we requested. As a testament to the staff's professionalism, vendors who had never worked with them before confided that they had never encountered such helpfulness, thoughtfulness, and care, both professionally and personally. SERVICE: For us, the service was simply impeccable! We experienced courtesy, attentiveness to all guests, and professionalism from the first moment of the day until closing. Both we, the celebrants, and our guests felt treated with respect and care, a feeling undoubtedly due to the very thorough and meticulous underlying organization. Many of our guests were amazed by how well they felt cared for and treated throughout the day, telling us they had never seen management and service of this level: cleanliness and order throughout, the ability to anticipate guests' needs before they could express them, attentive and well-dressed staff, and precise, elegant yet discreet service. DISHES: Already during the planning phase, Donato asked us about our preferences and the types of dishes we would like served. Based on our suggestions, he developed a series of superior options, including those tailored to food intolerances and preferences. During the menu tasting, we were able to evaluate all the options presented to us, including those tailored to food intolerances and preferences (vegan and vegetarian options). This is when we ran into serious problems: it wasn't easy to choose which dishes would be our favorites, because all the options proved to be truly excellent. Speaking of the final result, we can only say one thing: if, despite the generous portions, the multiple appetizers and entrees, a Novara native—who hails from the land of rice—requests the trio of risottos, the quality of the food was certainly among the best! In short, we believe Pierfaone "ruined" us. We realized, having attended other weddings before and after ours, that unfortunately, when you experience such an extraordinary level of care and quality, it's hard to appreciate other experiences.
