Decent food, but very unfriendly staff, compulsory aperitif and 12% service charge, basically theft. €50 for two for one dish...I do not recommend it.

We stopped to snack and ordered a board of prosciutto with burrata and artisan bread, exquisite. We paired it with a very good Monte Chianti wine, 2022. I recommend it for snacking; I don't know what the rest of the menu is like.

We had a delicious meal here on our first night in Venice. The host (maybe owner?) Alessandro was friendly and welcoming. Our waiter wasn’t bubbly or particularly outgoing but I wouldn’t say he was rude. The calamari we ordered was tender and very tasty (and better than some we later had in Rome). I had one of my favorite dishes of our entire trip - fettuccine with salmon. Maybe we had a better experience than some of the previous reviewers since we were visiting in the off-season (late December).

The food was very tasty. The waitress was nice and lovely, the atmosphere was great. I can only recommend it. Seafood with spaghetti was very tasty and the octopus was also soft.

Palazzo Grassi cafe

11/05/2025: Near St Marco Square, exquisite aperol, with ice, lemon and olive perfect for an aperitif accompanied with potatoes. Good price and attention. Thank you
05/04/2025: We needed a quick meal before one of our tours and walked into Cafe Venezia without any prior research. In a pinch, the place fills the void for a quick eat and enough seating to accommodate a group of 6 or 8. Of all the food we ordered, the Salame Piccante Pizza was pretty good. The staff was efficient, but not overtly friendly as other reviews have indicated. Overall, it gets the job done for a quick lunch.
