26/01/2025: We dined at BorgoRosso for 3 evenings in January this year.
The environment is familiar but of absolute professionalism.
The first evening they offered us homemade pasta with goat meat, my wife doesn't like this type of meat very much and was a bit perplexed. At my insistence we accepted the proposal and it was a fantastic surprise. Delicious pasta and exceptional sauce, the meat melted in your mouth. We drank a bottle of Cirò Rosso which went very well with this type of course.
At the end of dinner we asked if, the following evening, it was possible to taste their famous anchovy cutlets and the owner, who is also the cook, told us that she would do everything she could to find them and... the next day she had found the anchovies. We were amazed by the kindness he had shown us.
The cutlets were delicious and they continued with the first courses, the guitars with anchovies and bottarga....the sea entered our mouths!!!! A real delight, I hadn't felt this sensation in years.
Then the waiter, really kind and present, recommended the lemon cake and the tart, also homemade. And what can I say, the desserts are also delicious.
At the end of dinner we started talking to the owner and her son, who makes the pizzas, and they advised us to try these too.
For the last dinner we had there we tried the pizzas, a typical one with nduja and one with speck (not really typical of the area). The dough was crunchy, the quality of the products, including the speck, of a high standard.
What can I say, we have been going to Calabria for over 20 years, my wife has parents who live there, very few times have we found such a perfect combination of kindness, waiting times, price-quality ratio and professionalism.
It will definitely become our go-to restaurant when we are there.
