12/01/2025: This is where I like to return when I desire silence and peace. The Abbey speaks for itself and the Vettabbia park in front acts as a backdrop. Luckily the nearby stadium is a failed project that has migrated elsewhere and this is a huge relief for the preservation of this timeless place

12/01/2025: It is the best-known abbey in the Milan area, founded in the 12th century by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, a Cistercian monk of French origin. Due to its historical and religious importance, its architectural characteristics and the works of art it contains, it is impossible to assign less than five stars. But it must also be said that the abbey is quite poorly maintained and requires restoration work that can no longer be postponed. The frescoes in the dome and transept are in mediocre condition. Some fragments of plaster have even fallen to the ground and it is clear that the roof of the church has water infiltrations and needs urgent interventions, without which the frescoes would be irremediably lost. I didn't expect to find the abbey in these conditions. The access criteria on Saturdays and Sundays also appear to be criticisable, with costs for guided tours perhaps excessive. Having said that, it is a church of great importance which contains various works of art and which deserves to be known and visited. I especially liked the stupendous tower and some of the frescoes, of remarkable workmanship.
