The building, on an architectural level, is spectacular. But we didn't like the works of art at all.

The museum has a different concept, it includes different exhibition spaces that can host different exhibitions with different focuses as well as a permanent exhibition. You will find a cafeteria and a bookshop, professional and kind staff, the museum website is clear and easy to consult. The neighborhood in which it is located is very well connected by public transport and offers various clubs and restaurants, including ethnic ones

During my exploration of the contemporary art scene in Rome, I had the pleasure of visiting the MACRO, or the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome. Located in the area of the former Peroni brewery, the museum offers a fascinating fusion between industrial heritage and modern art, making it a unique cultural landmark in the Italian capital.
The architecture of the MACRO, curated by Odile Decq, is one of the first things that strikes the visitor. The innovative use of spaces, bright colors and modern structures transforms the building into a dynamic canvas that reflects the spirit of the works displayed inside. The entrance, featuring a red ramp that snakes through the courtyard, not only serves as a physical entrance but also as a symbolic introduction to the world of contemporary art.
The museum hosts a variety of temporary and permanent exhibitions, with a particular emphasis on contemporary Italian and international artists. The collections and exhibitions at MACRO are designed to be interactive and immersive, prompting visitors to reflect on social, political and cultural issues through art. During my visit, I particularly appreciated an exhibition dedicated to multimedia art, which included video and sound installations that completely transformed perceptions of the museum space.
The MACRO is not only a place to admire art but is also a vital center for cultural encounters and creative dialogues. The museum regularly organizes workshops, conferences and meetings with artists, offering the public unique opportunities to interact directly with creators and their works. This approach makes each visit to the MACRO a rich and variable experience, depending on the calendar of events and ongoing exhibitions.
The museum café and bookshop are other highlights, offering spaces to relax and reflect on the artistic experiences you have just had. Furthermore, the museum terrace offers a suggestive view of the city, creating a perfect union between art and the urban environment.
In conclusion, the MACRO is a museum that fully lives the present of contemporary art, with a strong commitment to innovation and experimentation. It's a place that stimulates the mind and offers new perspectives on what art can be. For lovers of modern art and for those seeking immersive cultural experiences in Rome, the MACRO is definitely an obligatory stop.

The exhibitions in August 2024 are quite weak and except for the downstairs room it is quite hot (I feel sorry for those who work there). If you are passionate about contemporary art go to the free day which seems to be Tuesday. The building is not bad. There is almost no public which is always an added value
