I've been there twice and had a great time: excellent food, welcoming atmosphere, and kind and helpful staff. The tiramisu is worth it 👍

Love this place. We were on the way to Foggia from Rome. Kinda hungry so we swerved to the town of Villanove and "stumbled" in this place. They know their stuff.

I wasn't particularly satisfied or dissatisfied; I'd say it was a fairly neutral experience. The food wasn't bad, but I wasn't thrilled with the outdoor seating: when we arrived, without a reservation, the tables were already set, and unfortunately, the tablecloths, cutlery, and napkins were dirty and full of flies. Even the glasses brought to us were probably freshly washed and still damp, so not exactly the best. Without these details, I probably would have given it 4 stars, but overall, it didn't impress me enough to make me want to return.

The restaurant is located on the university campus. The setting is romantic, with tables in the garden and inside. The service is attentive, and the food is well-prepared.

Trattoria Taverna Teate

05/11/2025: We went here twice. Once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times the food was excellent. This is a family run business and we were treated as family. Matteo, the owner’s son, was very helpful and provided recommendations and was very patient as we practiced our Italian. We will have to come back during our next trip to try the pizza as we heard it is very good.
04/11/2025: We've been eating here for the second year in a row during our vacation. Not only because it's incredibly cozy, inviting, and authentically welcoming, but also because the food is prepared with so much love and passion that you can immediately taste it. The staff always smile and work incredibly hard to ensure every guest has a perfect evening. I find it absolutely fantastic here—delicious, fun, and truly wonderful. For me, this restaurant is definitely one of the highlights in Chieti. See you next year!
