Ristorante Le Macinaie - Monte Amiata In Castel del piano

If you're interested in trekking or snow activities, this is the perfect place, located on Mount Amiata. We just stayed there as a couple for a weekend with Smartbox. It's 40-50 minutes from Val d'Orcia, so it's also convenient for exploring the area. The staff was very friendly. We couldn't book the hot tub, but they offered us two complimentary bottles of their own wine. The rooms are cozy and clean. I recommend it!

A relaxing weekend booked with Smartbox. We had a super panoramic room, a 5-star aperitif, but above all, we were guests at the restaurant.... That was an unforgettable experience. The staff is priceless in kindness and professionalism. The common areas are very welcoming, and the location is fabulous. At night, there's heavenly silence, and during the day, breathtaking scenery. I'll focus again on the restaurant because, in addition to being reasonably priced, it has an exceptional wine cellar and an unparalleled chef. The portions are very generous, and believe me, it's worth trying the entire menu.

It's been a few years since we've been to Amiata, but every time we've chosen Le Macinaie, we've always been there. Never change a winning team. Excellent location, superb restaurant, masters of hospitality. The hotel's website itself is proof of this: detailed enough to make you remotely experience the magic of this place. It literally entices you. Every experience is authentic, the descriptions and suggestions are true, and the sense of welcome, cleanliness, and familiarity is always palpable. Is that not enough? We stayed at the Le Macinaie Hotel for four days and it was a pleasant experience. The location is excellent, as the ski slopes and ski lifts are practically next door, and the hiking trails are also easily accessible. The hotel staff is very friendly and available to offer valuable advice and recommendations. The rooms are certainly clean. The restaurant is a strong point of the hotel, with varied and carefully prepared cuisine that emphasizes local products. The towns of Amiata, such as Abbadia San Salvatore, Santa Fiora, Castel del Piano, and Arcidosso, are worth a visit for many reasons and can be reached quickly from the hotel. We intend to return to Le Macinaie: it offers interesting opportunities in all seasons.

Regarding your response, I'd like to clarify a few things. Reviews (when thoughtfully written) can indeed help, but they can only help if understood, and from your response, it seems misunderstood. First of all, my wife didn't point out to anyone that the hot chocolate was undrinkable, so I assume I'm not the only one who pointed it out. Besides, it was made by an adult, so it's completely off the mark. I'd also like to point out that the room is NOT adjustable, as you wrote, except with a very basic thermostatic valve. However, with a room temperature of around 26 degrees Celsius, even turning off the radiator is difficult to lower, and with a 1-year-old and 10-month-old baby, it's difficult to open the window in such a small space. Regarding breakfast, it's true that there are tarts (not homemade) as well as other products. I apologize for the clarification, but it's clear from your response that it wasn't referring to my stay, but to someone else. I stayed one night at this hotel with my wife and two-year-old daughter. The positives are definitely the location, just below the slopes and with a large lawn where the kids can play, and the friendliness of the staff. That said, the room is tiny; it's really hard for two of us to move around, especially with our suitcases... The room was probably over 25 degrees Celsius, so we were sweating. The breakfast buffet was minimal, with mostly packaged, commercial products. The hot chocolate and coffee (at the bar) were undrinkable. In short, I'd stay here again if I were single and less fussy.

And how wonderful it is to be with your family, everyone is wonderful, the view is picture-perfect. Highly recommended.

Sunday and Monday with the family. The hotel is right across the street from the ski lifts, the atmosphere is warm and family-friendly, and the restaurant is excellent and traditional. The entire staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Even if it was only for a short time, we had a wonderful time!

A simply wonderful experience at Hotel Macinaie and Chalet Vecchio Rifugio. From the management to the welcome, everything was impeccable: we were welcomed with open arms, including our inseparable four-legged friend Apollo, who was treated like family here 🐾. We stayed in the splendid Chalet Vecchio Rifugio, in the large "La Fagetta" suite, where a roaring fireplace greeted us, creating a warm, intimate, and truly special atmosphere. In the morning, we woke to 30 cm of fresh snow, a sight that made the landscape even more magical ❄️. In the evening, we enjoyed a candlelit dinner, with excellent and delicious dishes, prepared with care and passion, all accompanied by an excellent local wine. A relaxing, authentic, and romantic stay, made even more beautiful by the company of our beloved Apollo. A place that will remain in our hearts and where we will return more often. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We stayed two nights, just before Epiphany, at Chalet La Faggeta: we were two families with three children, and the experience was truly wonderful. The chalet is beautiful, spacious, and welcoming. It has two large common areas: one with a fireplace and another with a sofa, large TV, table, and piano. The children were able to play freely and share these spaces with other children from the same apartments. The icing on the cake were the Epiphany stockings we found on our departure day: a surprise that made the children very happy, but also touched us adults, for the attention and care shown. The staff is of a rare kindness, the kind we are unfortunately no longer accustomed to. We sincerely thank everyone for making such a wonderful experience possible. Highly recommended!
