Sweating and Starving: A Massive Disappointment Avoid unless you enjoy sauna-style dining and microscopic portions. I rarely write negative reviews, but our experience at Ristorante La Piazzetta in Trieste was so frustrating that I feel compelled to warn others. The Heat is Unbearable: First and foremost, there is absolutely no air conditioning. Trieste gets incredibly hot and humid, and sitting inside this restaurant felt like dining in a sauna. We were sweating through our clothes the entire night, which completely ruined any chance of a pleasant evening. When we asked about it, the staff just shrugged. Laughably Small Portions: To make matters worse, the food portions are microscopic. We ordered several courses expecting a proper dinner, but what we got looked like "tasting menu" samples on giant plates. For the premium prices they charge, the serving sizes are an absolute joke. We literally left the restaurant still starving and had to stop by a local bakery immediately afterward just to feel full...

Nice restaurant with very good food. Spaghetti vongole and spaghetti seppia with salad. Nice and friendly staff. I can't understand some of the reviews here. Highly recommended.

The food was excellent for a very reasonable price, the staff was very friendly, I can highly recommend it.

The sea bass was beautifully grilled and the salad fresh and lovely. The service was warm and friendly and we loved this place.

A great restaurant unfairly judged — truly worth visiting. I’m one of the most demanding people when it comes to food, so I arrived with very low expectations especially because the place has no visible sign and the name is practically hidden. Honestly, I assumed it was intentional after seeing so many negative reviews online. But the moment we walked in, everything changed. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was incredibly kind, welcoming, and to my surprise —she spoke perfect Spanish, which made the experience even more enjoyable. She suggested several dishes from the menu with genuine enthusiasm, and every recommendation she gave us was spot‑on. The food itself was good and well prepared, the wine was delicious, and the tiramisu was absolutely excellent creamy, balanced, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. What truly stood out, though, was how they treat everyone equally locals and tourists receive the same warm, attentive service. That’s rare, and it deserves recognition. This is why I honestly don’t understand the bad reviews. I have no idea where they come from, because my experience was the complete opposite. It actually makes me feel bad that such a solid, friendly, and well‑run place has such a low rating. This restaurant is much better than its online score suggests, and it genuinely deserves more appreciation. It’s a place that’s absolutely worth visiting.

The staff was very friendly. We ate fish and it was delicious.

We went for lunch after a visit to Museo Santorini, nearby. We found the staff to be kind, smiling and helpful. We ate delicious, tender, grilled octopus for l'antipasti. Then, dorado fillets with white wine and zucchini. I chose the lasagne & i must say, my own recipe at home, is nicer. (Our only 'slightly bad' comment!) The wine was delicious and the dessert, strudel, was very nice. The prices are no different to other Trieste restaurants, for good food.
