Incredible setting, very good meal, kept its promises

Siamo andati in una serata di fine estate, location fantastica, si arriva con teleferica, si è subito accolti con cordialità e professionalità. Abbiamo mangiato all'aperto, tavolo con visto golfo di noli a dir poco mozzafiato. Abbiamo preso il menù degustazione, a dir poco fantastico. Materie prime eccezionali, impiattamenti all'altezza, esecuzioni al top. Personale qualificato, non invadente, educato, preparato; sicuramente all'altezza di un ristorante stellato. Secondo me vale quanto si spende.

We had a pleasant dinner with a summer menu. Dishes prepared and rich in traditions and local products. The revisited Albenga trumpet is very good. The highlight here is the wine list, an excellent choice of natural wines, let yourself be guided by the sommelier to taste delicious local macerates. The location is lovely overlooking the sea and bay. We also stayed two nights in the ancient Bishop's Palace

Splendid location on the terraces of a historic residence with breathtaking views of the bay of Noli. Chef's proposals to choose from à la carte or in delicious sensorial journeys among the flavors of the Ligurian tradition with respectful originality! Worth mentioning is the attention shown to my celiac disease, I have always been offered the tasty and gluten free "alternative". Pleasant welcome and service, attentive and never intrusive. A small negative note is the disproportionate cost of natural water, albeit a small thing, in my opinion a lack of refinement, it would be enough to include it in the menu costs.

The food is more or less what you'd expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant. We had the full "degustazione" menu, and there were some excellent dishes. I must say that the standard of restaurants in the surrounding area is so high, that the prices at this restaurant don't really seem worth it. Does it make sense to spend more than five times the amount for food which is only twice as good? That is debatable, I guess. Anyway, as far as food and service go, we had a good meal, but then there was the music. A live rock band was playing on the beach for the whole evening. Even though the restaurant is not on the beach itself, somehow the music was still very loud and drowned out our conversation and basically ruined the experience of being at this special restaurant. We arrived at about 8pm on a Sunday and left at about 11pm, with loud music playing all the time. Incredibly, music was also being played on the restaurant's own speakers in the background, leading to the utmost cacophony. When I complained they calmly replied that it happens every Sunday during the summer. I fully understand that it's not directly the restaurant's fault, but they should at least warn guests about the problem before taking bookings on Sundays. It would be unacceptable to eat in those conditions anywhere, but in such an expensive restaurant you would expect an apology. Our senses are connected in many ways. The chef should look into multisensory perception.... for example, it is known that loud music can overwhelm the senses and make food taste less intense, or even dull, while softer music can heighten our awareness of flavours. In summary, don't go to this restaurant on a Sunday during the summer months unless you're not bothered at all by loud background noise.
