On our trip to Provence, we decided to have lunch in Italy before crossing the French border. The GPS recommended a break, and given it was lunchtime, we exited the highway at Finale Ligure. Looking at the list of restaurants in the area, I was intrigued by the photo of La Pergola, so we decided to head up the road that climbs the hill overlooking the sea to where the restaurant is located. We arrived at the reserved parking lot a few meters from the restaurant, accessed via a small pedestrian street. However, due to the rain and the pergola being impassable for lunch, we were told to wait a half hour. By now, we were intrigued, so we waited. Right on time, after half an hour, we were seated, and I must say our expectations were well-founded. The tasting platter accompanied by warm focaccia was delicious! The mixed fried fish was exquisite, and the tuna steak accompanied by burrata with pistachios was noteworthy: a pairing I'd never tried before! Fresh fish was paired with a local wine recommended by the sommelier, which perfectly complemented the food we ordered! Friendly and professional staff. We'll definitely be back. Well done!!!

This restaurant is a marvel! We're staying at the Hotel Le Macine that houses it, and what can I say? Everything is perfect, a treat at a low price! Refined, homemade, and succulent dishes. We tried another recommended restaurant, but without question, Il Cucco is the best in Montaione. (And what's more, you get 10% off if you're a hotel guest!) In short, go there with your eyes closed.
