I read with great sadness that this exceptional restaurant that accompanied my life and that of my family closed on Sunday. Here I celebrated my confirmation and... my wedding. I will miss the kindness of Mr Tano and his staff, the elegance of the room, with its paintings and the round tables in the corners. I will regret his Mantuan cuisine at the highest levels. Thank you for the beautiful, unforgettable moments spent pleasantly at the Cigno.

Atzalut!

I don't think you can eat better but unfortunately it closes tomorrow. I will never forget herbs, snails, pumpkin ravioli and many other things that for me no one in the universe knows how to make them as they do them, not to mention the super kindness of Mr. Martini

We arrive in a deserted and gloomy Mantua. We enter this restaurant (trattoria is very simplistic). Kind, courteous and smiling waiters welcome us. We are catapulted eighty years ago. even though the business dates back to the 1960s. The furnishings and clothing of the staff leave an air of charm and elegance. We sit at a round table located in one of the corners of the room, with semi-circle bench seats, where Mr. Martini himself welcomes us and wishes us a pleasant evening. After tasting particular and fragrant breadsticks, we order the first courses: meat agnolini in broth, pumpkin tortelli in melted butter and parmesan (excellent in their simplicity). As second courses: baked sea bass (without any side dish or seasoning, as requested by my wife), fillet tartare, parsley, capers, egg yolk, salt and pepper and guinea fowl leg with honey mushrooms and chanterelles; all truly sublime. For desserts we venture into a chocolate pear cake with cream ice cream and nougat foam with melted bitter chocolate (delights for the palate); in addition, unsolicited, fantastic touches of sbrisolona. High bill but worth it: excellent raw materials, fantastic cuisine and exclusive environment. A sad note is the fact that in June the Martini family will change hands; after all, time passes inexorably for everyone. Absolutely worth trying.

A pearl of tradition in the Mantua culinary panorama.
Staff ready and very kind.
The room is furnished in a classic style adorned with beautiful flowers and interesting paintings.
A place frequented by both people from Mantua and tourists.
Traditional menu with quality raw materials.
In my opinion, the whole menu should be tried because there are several interesting dishes.
The desserts are also remarkable.
Compliments. I highly recommend.

5 stars for a unique experience. After trying to get a table at 8 different places, we wandered in disbelief into Il Cigno, our ninth try. A last-minute cancellation had made it possible, we had a table. Lucky us.
As you walk in, you realize that you're entering into much more than just a restaurant. It's a carefully crafted experience.
The moment you cross the door, you are greeted by an elegant and experienced maitre d' who escorts you in. After neatly hanging your jackets, you are led into the main dining room, stunned by the spaciousness of the beautifully decorated historic space. The place comes gently to life with Venetian vases, early 20th-century paintings, and blossoming orchids. A unique theatrical set that gets you into the positive mood required for what it is to come.
As a starter, we had the 'culatta' and a salad made with endives and capers. The mains were a mix of pasta: Tortellini di zucca, Agnolotti with brodo, and tagliatelle. All beautifully homemade and humble in their taste. We also tried a traditional dish made with pickled chicken. The dessert was the cherry on the cake, cheesecake with strawberry sauce. A smile emerged; somebody had put their heart into preparing it.
But my review would not be complete without a special mention of the team of waiters who delivered the experience. A thoughtful team that matched the rhythm of our dinner to the best classical music. The execution was pristine, with all kinds of details contributing to making our experience truly memorable.
I hope that if you happen to stop in Mantova, you get to enjoy it too.
