20/08/2024: During a recent visit to Palau, we decided to have dinner at the restaurant "Il Vecchio Pirata", and the experience was truly pleasant. The restaurant is welcoming and well furnished, with an atmosphere that recalls the maritime charm of the area. A perfect place for a relaxing dinner, especially to eat fresh fish. We started with a mixed fried shellfish which was really tasty and well prepared, with a crunchy and light breading. We then tasted the raw prawns, scampi, oysters and tuna. The quality of the fish was good, fresh and well presented. The highlight of the evening, for me, was the chef's spaghetti: simply delicious. The cooking of the pasta was perfect and the sauce tasty, a real pleasure for the palate. I highly recommend trying them. The final bill was around €200 for three people, including two bottles of an excellent white wine. A fair price considering the quality of the food and service. A tip: it is better to book in advance, especially in the months of July and August, when the restaurant is very crowded. And don't be late, otherwise you could risk losing your table and having to queue due to the influx of tourists in the area. In conclusion, "Il Vecchio Pirata" is an excellent choice for those who want to eat good fish in a pleasant, relaxing environment with a sea view. I will definitely be back!
