Nine days in Italy, and this was our dinner on the first day. And it was the best of the ten places we visited for lunch or dinner. By far. Superb food, exceptional service. The owner, the chef, and the waiters all came out to talk to us, sharing their experiences with Spanish and Italian cuisine.
They invited us to try several things. The dishes and cured meats were excellent, although some of the salume were a bit salty, but it's forgivable. The carbonara with truffle, a personal interpretation, is spectacular. The house wine isn't bad; nor is it exceptional. We hadn't eaten much, due to circumstances of the trip, so we were starving, but we were more than satisfied.
For the quality and service, and for the beauty of the town... I highly recommend it.

Excellent appetizers, excellent first courses (the pisarei & fasoi da guduria), and decent second courses. The gnocco fritto is definitely worth trying. If we add excellent wines, very kind staff, and low prices for the quality offered, I'd say it's a restaurant worth trying. It's a shame you have to hike a bit, but Castel Arquato is always a place worth visiting 👍

My wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a Sunday lunch in this beautiful village, and choosing Antica Osteria del Borgo (also known as Piccola Osteria del Borgo) proved to be a perfect choice.
The atmosphere is exactly what you're looking for when visiting a place so steeped in history: welcoming, intimate, and authentic. We started with a Platter of DOP cured meats that spoke for itself: the quality of the ingredients was excellent, just as you'd expect in these parts.
Next, we couldn't help but try the classic Pisarei and Faśö: expertly prepared, with a rich, heart-warming sauce. But the real surprise was the braised chestnuts and porcini mushrooms, accompanied by perfectly crispy fried polenta; a fragrant and tender seasonal pairing, a dish we'll remember for a long time.
To finish on a high note, I indulged in the Bargnolino: a truly artisanal delicacy that provided the perfect finishing touch to a memorable meal.
Special mention goes to the staff: impeccable service, friendly, knowledgeable, and always smiling waiters, capable of making you feel pampered without being intrusive.
If you're passing through Castell'Arquato and are looking for authentic Piacenza cuisine served with grace, this is the place to be. We'll definitely be back!

We had lunch at the small Osteria del Borgo. What can I say: the staff were incredibly kind, the food excellent, and the welcome was wonderful.
We didn't book and the restaurant was packed, so to make our wait more pleasant, they offered us a small welcome aperitif. We ordered a plate of Piacenza cured meats, two carbonaras with truffle and culatello, and a tagliata, all accompanied by a bottle of live meat recommended by the waiter. The carbonara was simply FANTASTIC, the meat was incredibly tender, and the cured meats were delicious.
The price was fair.
Congratulations, we'll definitely be back!!

A small but elegant restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We arrived without a reservation, and despite the restaurant being packed, they found us a table for an hour without ever making us feel rushed. Excellent food, impeccable service, and professional yet friendly and welcoming staff. We'll definitely be back, as we'd have loved trying other dishes. I recommend booking: such kindness, quality, and professionalism are truly rare.

We went for lunch today and were greeted with such attention and friendliness! The food was very good and the price was more than fair!!!
The owner even brought a small appetizer of fried gnocco and culatello for my wife without asking, since I was the only one having a first course!
