An institution in Ventotene, open for many years, it offers typical, simple cuisine with more than the right portions. To try, because it is a guarantee, the fish (any) cooked expertly and with skill by those who have been doing that job for a long time. A stop here cannot be missed.

Siamo stati in coppia a cena da Benito dopo appena 10 anni. Abbiamo preso un’insalata di seppia e polpo, un primo a base di gambero rosso di Ponza, una fetta di ricciola alla brace, una fetta di caprese con due calici di vino e due bottiglie d’acqua. C’era un piacevole venticello e in terrazza si stava benissimo! Unico neo un tavolo con adulti e bambini un po’ rumorosi tanto da far intervenire anche il cameriere. Tutto è stato buono ma 100€ ci sono sembrati un po’ troppi.

The old reviews about this restaurant are no longer true to reality. I had dinner here two nights in a row, the guys who work here this year are kind, fast, professional and attentive. There is nothing that we liked less than anything else: we tried grilled tuna and prawns, spaghetti with sea urchins and spaghetti with clams, paccheri with clams and courgette flowers, the side dishes of courgettes with scapece and escarole... everything was delicious, plentiful, well cooked and well presented, although the dishes were all in all simple, but perfectly executed. Grilled fish is certainly what I recommend choosing if you want to eat a single dish that still fills you up, accompanied by a side dish. We are not talking about a cheap restaurant, after all there is nothing that is cheap on the island, but it is absolutely worth the money spent: both times we spent around €45 each, which for eating very fresh fish in my opinion makes absolutely sense. Ah, the house wine is also worth it, half a liter costs €10. Go to Benito if you want to have a super dinner and spend your money well in Ventotene.
