Our visit to Ambrosia Restaurant in Tuscany was truly a highlight of our trip. Nestled in the heart of the region, this charming spot offered not just a meal, but an immersive and unforgettable experience.
The setting was absolutely beautiful indoors, with a cozy, rustic ambiance that made us feel right at home. One of the most unique features was the glass floor, through which we could see an ancient well beneath our feet – such a fascinating and unexpected detail that added even more character to the space.
We were lucky enough to take part in a hands-on experience where we got to make our own homemade pasta and dessert. With guidance from the warm and knowledgeable Chef Mateo, we rolled, shaped, and cooked our way through a delicious and fun afternoon. Sitting down to enjoy the meal we created ourselves made it all the more meaningful.
To accompany our food, we were served the house wine, and it was absolutely amazing – smooth, rich, and the perfect complement to the dishes we made.
Ambrosia is more than just a restaurant – it’s a culinary and cultural experience that we’ll always remember. Highly recommended for anyone looking to savor the true spirit of Tuscany.

Taking a cooking class with Chef Matteo at Ambrosia was an unforgettable experience that awakened every sense. From the moment we stepped into the warmly lit grotto, it was clear we were in the hands of a master who cooks not just with skill, but with soul.
The highlight of the class was the pasta — hand-rolled to perfection and paired with green tomatoes and what Chef affectionately called "kissing garlic." The balance of acidity and sweetness, elevated by the subtle kiss of garlic, made for a dish that was both rustic and refined.
And then there was the spinach flan — a revelation. Delicate yet rich, it practically melted on the tongue. The nutmeg crème added a velvety warmth, and the tomato shavings brought just the right brightness to round out each bite. It was a dish that felt both traditional and inventive.
Chef Matteo’s passion is contagious, his techniques approachable, and his storytelling elevates every moment. Ambrosia has crafted more than just a cooking class — it’s a celebration of flavor, community, and the kind of food that stays with you long after the last bite.

This spot came highly recommended, but unfortunately, it missed the mark for us. From the moment we arrived, something felt a bit off. While the one waitress on duty was impressively efficient, the overall service lacked warmth or welcome.
The menu looked promising, but the food was average at best — a 3 out of 5. Compared to other meals we enjoyed throughout Italy, it simply didn’t measure up. It may have just been an off night, as the couple next to us said this was their 2nd time dining here.

This was hands down a culinary experience! We were in Cortona for 2 weeks and had dinner here 3 times. We are huge foodies. The passion that Chef Matteo puts into his food made you feel like he is cooking dinner for you personally at his home!! We cannot wait to come back!!

As a chef in the U.S., this meal and experience was at the top of my favorite restaurants in Cortona. Chef Matthew Sciarri puts his heart and soul into every dish creating fresh, local dishes that are perfectly presented and memorable. He made our group of 12 feel as if we were the only guests in his restaurant, however every table was full. It’s been a long time since I’ve wanted to go back to a restaurant the next night. Unfortunately, we were leaving for Florence the next morning or I would have. Grazie mille to the Chef and team!

Locale carino a Cortone. Avrei dato di più ma anche se è vero che ci siete venuti incontro nel cambiare qualche portata di carne nel menù terra ma un menù senza un primo come si deve non si può vedere. Vini buoni. Lo consiglio ma senza chiedere variazioni

Characteristic restaurant in Cortono, excellent wines and good food. Four stars only because it is true that you have accommodated us in the main menu by removing some meat courses but a menu without a proper first course cannot be seen. If it hadn't been for this I would have given more and I recommend it but without asking for variations
