We reached the refuge, had lunch with a house dish, polenta with stew, grilled sausage and local toma, 1/2 of fresh sparkling wine.....for everything else there is a mastercard😉😂

I spent a night at the refuge for my son's birthday who loves the mountains. We had already been here but only as a refreshment but I must say that the experience of staying at high altitude is truly beautiful. Cozy and clean rooms, clean and modernized bathroom. The super welcoming and kind family made us feel at home. The menu is always the same as per tradition: polenta and stew, sausage and cheese platter. The inevitable buckwheat cake with blueberry jam is sweet. Everything delicious and tastes like home. Breakfast with mocha coffee like at home😊rusks and single portion biscuits, fresh bread with jam and blood honey Then you go out and there is silence... just the sound of cow bells. A true oasis of peace... Val Viola is a beautiful valley, open and can be reached with a walk suitable for everyone starting from the P4 car park

I don't rate the rooms as I have never stayed. I stopped at Rifugio Viola twice, the first in 2022 and the second a couple of days ago. The beautiful memories of good food and pleasant atmosphere came back, and the resulting expectations I had were absolutely not disappointed, on the contrary. Fully satisfied, I will come back again, without a doubt. P.S. I recommend the walk to all hikers who wish to spend a peaceful moment, perhaps even with friends or loved ones who are not really used to the mountains. It is a walk, in my opinion, for every age and level of "experience", varied and engaging.

One of the most beautiful valleys in the area. The walk, which starts from the P4 car park in Arnoga, is accessible to everyone, and amidst fabulous landscapes takes us to Rifugio Viola, at over 2300 m, a few steps from the Swiss border. The place is fantastic, you can eat polenta with any accompaniment of your choice or even other types of food. The pizza toast is particularly excellent! You can also stay overnight. An absolutely must-do experience.
