Rifugio Scarteboden In Macugnaga

I was sad to leave. The food was excellent and plentiful, and the price was great. The owners were very kind and helpful. Just above Macugnaga (about a half-hour walk), it's an enchanting place overlooking the town with breathtaking views of Monte Rosa. I highly recommend it to everyone.

A stop along the descent immersed in nature is highly recommended. Excellent food, excellent service and sublime staff, not to mention the view.

We stayed one night and had a wonderful time, from dinner to breakfast.

Typical, homemade dishes with an incredible view of Macugnaga and Monte Rosa. Fair prices and portions for very good food, though it's a shame there's not a huge selection. Reservations are recommended on summer weekends, as seating is limited.

Very nice refugio that was recently renovated. Almost as luxurious as a B&B, but for a very good price. Good food and extremely friendly owners. Would definitely recommend over a hotel in Macugnaga!

I had a great time!!! I ate an appetizer of cold cuts and cheeses, the typical pasta alla Macugnagase and polenta and cheeses... everything was excellent!!!! Fast service and the waitress was very kind... I recommend it!!! P.S. to get there from Pecetto it takes about 20 minutes on foot on a nice cool path with woods on the sides..... Just above Macugnaga, in a super panoramic spot on the east face of the Rosa, stands the Scateboden Refuge, a place suitable for those who don't want to commit to a very demanding hike and want to eat excellent local cuisine with a splendid view. On the wonderful terrace we shared a platter of local cold cuts and cheeses, abundant and all extremely high quality, polenta with deer brugit, the dish of the day because it was so good, and pasta alla macugnaghese, inviting on paper but nothing too wow in practice. Desserts also very good and served in enormous portions. The service is very kind, smiling and inclined to joke, we felt very welcomed. The price is average and even fair, in my opinion, given the crazy location. Finally, I absolutely recommend booking.
