The route to reach the Hermitage is well signposted and can be done even by beginners. We enjoyed a walk to rediscover the scent of the forest, the sound of water and find balance. The Hermitage, lovingly preserved, awaits us at the top of Monte Froppa. The managers tell their story, we listened to them sitting around the fireplace savoring fresh hot bread, cured meats, local cheese, homemade desserts. The delicious hot sandwich, the welcoming and refreshing atmosphere. It is possible to gather in the small restored church and then leave and return to the valley. Thanks to the managers who have chosen a welcome that focuses on quality mixed with culture and the true spirit of hospitality at altitude, not "hit and run". Prices online. We will definitely be back.

We were here for having lunch after hiking. The foods are great but we waited kinda long time although we booked at noon sharp only because they had not open the door yet. Understandable tho because they are small restaurant in this mountain. They do not have menu, so listen carefully on what they have at that day and you can also ask for the cost if you want. If you don't ask about the cost, they won't tell you. We didn't spend much anyway, so the price is fair.
The dogs cannot go inside so prepare some nibbles for your dogs while they wait for you outside. The owner provides water for dogs outside.

This place is sacred. A former convent where in the past some friars of a Franciscan branch lived, lay penitents, called Romiti (hermits).
To get up here we left the car in Navare, there are some parking spaces on the other side of the Piave. We went up the Via Crucis path and down the forest road, completely covered in ice in this period. Just before arriving at the Hermitage there is a chapel with frescoes. The slope is medium, therefore challenging for those who are not used to walking in the mountains, however the length of the climb is limited (2 km) and the difference in altitude is not significant (440 m), it can be reached in about an hour and a half, taking it easy . We really liked the forest and undergrowth, there is a lot of moss. From the Hermitage the view is very beautiful, you can see Antelao, Cima Bastioni, Cimon Del Froppa, etc. Furthermore the tables are south-west, kissed by the sun, after lunch without anyone outside it was very relaxing. To eat you need to book, they have few seats inside and are keen to provide fresh food. We ate a platter of cheeses and cured meats, drank 2 glasses of wine and 2 coffees (offered), paid 14 euros. The prices are honest, Mrs. Barbara is very kind and her partner is a nice chatterbox, both dressed in Cadore clothes. The fact that it can only be reached on foot is a significant plus! I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves non-commercial places.
